Featured Itinerary
Day 1
Begin your fishing adventure by checking in to Harman’s Luxury Log Cabins. These riverside cabins follow the North Fork of the South Branch of the Potomac River and feature award-winning trout fishing on-site. Dive right in with miles of fly fishing at your doorstep or explore the mountainous terrain with a leisurely hike on-site. In the afternoon, take a trip to Petersburg to get lunch and visit the Petersburg Trout Hatchery. When you’re done for the day and have worked up an appetite, dine on a home-cooked meal at nearby Mallow’s Roadside Café or grill out on your back deck. End the night with a riverside campfire and stargazing.
Day 2
Rise early and head to Petersburg to Eagle’s Nest Outfitters to begin your adventure. Choose a full-day guided fishing trip along the South Branch of the Potomac River, which is famous for trophy trout. Lunch is provided and for those who wish to expand their fishing skills, also available are special classes on cooking streamside meals and even setting up camp for overnight fishing trips. End your day with a shuttle back to the Outfitters before grabbing a homemade pizza at Anthony’s Italian Restaurant. Return to your cabin for a relaxing evening in the hot tub or take a calming walk along the river.
Day 3
Start your final day with a quick breakfast before driving to Blackwater Falls State Park for great fishing opportunities. You can catch bass, bluefill, catfish and trout at Pendleton Lake. The nearby Blackwater River is regularly stocked with trout in the spring and summer. After a long day of fishing, get some much needed sleep and stay in a cozy cabin or rustic lodge room at Blackwater Falls State Park. A fishing trip is not complete without a hearty dinner at The Smokehouse at Blackwater Falls then enjoy your final evening taking in the sounds of nature on the deck of your cabin.
