Lost River State Park

Mathias, WV

Located in the wooded mountains of Hardy County in West Virginia’s Eastern Panhandle, Lost River State Park provides cabin lodging and an abundance of outdoor recreation. The park’s quiet 3,934 acres of woods provides a secluded getaway for nature lovers. Lost River is known for its Cranny Crow overlook on top of Big Ridge Mountain, which offers a commanding view of five counties. The park features 26 cabins (Legacy and Classic styles), hiking trails, an activity building, and outdoor swimming pool (seasonal). The abundant wildlife includes deer, bear, other woodland creatures as well as multiple songbirds and raptors.

No potable water is available. Campsite 1 is horse friendly. Site rental is fee-based and includes firewood. Three campsites are available near the upper shelter No. 2 area of the park, close to the ball field. Sites include a fire ring, picnic table and use of the public shelter. Restrooms are located nearby, and showers are available during pool hours (seasonal). Parking is available in the ball field parking lot adjacent to the camping area.
