DAY 1
Start your day in West Virginia’s largest city and state capital: Charleston. Delight in an early lunch at Black Sheep Burritos and Brews, complete with fresh guacamole and a house-brewed craft beer. Then, head over to Capitol Street for some shopping at the downtown boutique stores. For a modern happy hour experience, visit The Block Restaurant and Wine Cellar on Capitol Street.
A short walk from downtown, Haddad Riverfront Park on the Kanawha River is a prime location for fun and entertainment.
Downtown bars like Bar 101, Copper Pint and Sam’s Uptown Café are great places to enjoy a nightcap. Mardi Gras Casino and Resort is also a fun choice for night of slots, poker, entertainment and food with New Orleans flair.
DAY 2
Make you way south towards White Sulphur Springs and spend a day at The Greenbrier Resort. Here, you’ll find more than 55 indoor and outdoor activities within the 11,000 acres of the resort. DAY 3
Head northbound to Wheeling, a 3-hour drive from Charleston. For a tasty breakfast, stop at Sarah’s On Main. If you like croissants, quiche lorraine, quiche florentine and salty bread sandwiches, you’ll love this from-scratch bakery and cafe.
If you desire a little shopping trip, visit the charming and historic Centre Market, featuring a mix of locally-owned shops and eateries. In fact, Centre Market is home to Coleman’s Fish Market, which serves the famous Coleman’s fish sandwich.
After your daytime adventures, explore Wheeling and its amazing variety of restaurants, like Vagabond Kitchen, Later Alligator, Tachoholix, DiCarlos Pizza and Wheeling Brewing Company. For some nighttime entertainment, head to Wheeling Island Hotel, Casino and Racetrack or visit the stunning Capitol Theatre for an incredible show at a historic location.
