Motorsports in West Virginia

Nothing compares to an evening of racing under the stars in Almost Heaven. Whatever your sport, the Mountain State has a wide variety of motorsport activities. From dirt to asphalt, Almost Heaven is the perfect place to cheer on your favorite drivers.

West Virginia is home to a wide variety of motorsport offerings. Here, you can go off-roading on the trails, experience stock car racing or serve as a spectator for motorcross. Try your hand at ATV or UTV off-roading in southern West Virginia along the Hatfield-McCoy trails. Visit the Ohio Valley Speedway or Ona Speedway to see some premiere stock car racing. Or sit back, relax and enjoy the show at annual events like Monster Jam at the Charleston Coliseum & Convention Center.



Dirt Tracks

West Virginia Motor Speedway, Mineral Wells, WV 

Encompassing around 5/8 miles of West Virginia soil, this dirt, oval track is well known among experienced racers. Known as the ‘World’s Fastest Dirt Track’, racers reach speeds over 150 mph while viewers watch this incredible speed from a terraced hillside. 

Right off I-77, near Microtel by Wyndham, the WV Motor Speedway is effortlessly easy to find and enjoyable for thrill seekers of all ages.

Ohio Valley Speedway, Parkersburg, WV

The Ohio Valley Speedway has played host to some of the nation’s best-known racers. Since opening in 1958, this lively Mountain State gem has continued to bring in racing legends and is in the top for short track excellence. 

Today, the stalwart track maintains it’s aura of yesteryear and charm but with a more modern, 3/8 mile long, oval track constructed with clay.  

Tyler County Speedway, Middlebourne, WV

Known as “America’s Baddest Bullring,” Tyler County Speedway is a 1/4 mile dirt tack. Opened in 1974 and located at the Tyler County Fair Grounds, it is host to many large races such as the Earl Hill Memorial, Hillbilly 100, King of the Ring, Jackpot 100, and more. Races are held every Saturday night from April-September.

Beckley Motor Speedway, Mount Hope, WV

Hosting the fastest 3/8 mile clay track in the south, Beckley Motor Speedway is perfect for lovers of speed. Enjoy nine different classes of races with special events varying on the occasion. Races and events are held on Fridays and Saturdays between April and November.

Elkins Raceway, Kerens, WV

Elkins Raceway is a 3/8 mile dirt track located in Kerens, West Virginia. Featuring Jenkins Ford Super Late models, Budweiser FASTRAK Crate Late Models and more every Friday night from April to October. Keep an eye out for the Candy Rush events, autograph nights and much more.

Asphalt Tracks

Summit Point Motorsports Park, Summit Point, WV  

The Summit Point Motorsports Park has taken “Friday night lights” to a new level with 3 paved-road racetracks. Only two hours west from Washington, D.C., this rip-roaring track is perfect for any city lover wanting to dip their boots in the racing world. 

Racers and spectators can enjoy the three road courses, two skid/autocross pads, off-road courses and much more. Offering driver training sessions and informative racing programs, Summit Point Motorsports Park has something for everyone. 

Motorcross

Jet Mountain-X & Camping, Roane County, WV

Ride and camp at this new hybrid (mountain, mx, scramble) track. Jet Mountain-X & Camping offers beautiful and private surroundings with views. Extremely challenging, new style, MOUNTAIN-X course. This track also hosts live music such as bluegrass, country and rock shows.

Tomahawk MX Park, Hedgesville, WV

Tomahawk MX Park is West Virginia’s premier motocross track. It provides three tracks and eight miles of Hare Scrambles for our customers on 110 acres in Hedgesville, WV. The facility offers a main motocross course, supercross track, beginners course, quad track and eight miles of wood trails. There is a course to tackle for racers of all skill levels. For spectators who prefer a closer view of the track, RV rentals are available at first come, first serve.
