Join Us for the First Annual “Living History Encampment” at the WV State Wildlife Center!

Imagine being able to walk through 150 years of American history! A new event at the Wildlife Center, a "Living History Encampment", will make this a reality in 2016. Our very own "Mountain Man" and his "Living History" demonstration was a huge hit in 2015. On August 6th and 7th, we're going to expand on this educational theme and add reenactors from a multitude of time periods, spanning from Pre-Colonial times through the Civil War era. Regular admission fees ($4 for Adults 16+, $2 for Children 6-15, Free for Children under 6) will apply for this two day event.

Shrek The Musical

Set in a mythical “once upon a time” sort of land, Shrek the Musical is the story of a hulking green ogre who, after being mocked and feared his entire life by anything that crosses his path, retreats to an ugly green swamp to exist in happy isolation. Suddenly, a gang of homeless fairy-tale characters (Pinocchio, Cinderella, the Three Pigs, you name it) raid his sanctuary, saying they’ve been evicted by the vertically challenged Lord Farquaad. So Shrek strikes a deal: I’ll get your homes back, if you give me my home back! But when Shrek and Farquaad meet, the Lord strikes a deal of his own: He’ll give the fairy-tale characters their homes back, if Shrek rescues Princess Fiona. Shrek obliges, yet finds something appealing–something strange and different–about this pretty princess. He likes her. A lot. But why does she always run off when the sun sets? This show will be held at the Virginia Thomas Law Performing Arts Center on the campus of WV Wesleyan College. Information about Ticket Sales will be added soon. Always, Patsy Cline

Always, Patsy Cline is based on the true story of Patsy Cline's friendship with Houston housewife Louise Seger. Having first heard Cline on the "Arthur Godfrey Show" in 1957, Seger became an immediate and avid fan of Cline's and she constantly hounded the local disc jockey to play Cline's records on the radio. The relationship, which began as fan worship evolved into one of mutual respect. It is the kind of relationship that many fans would like to have with their heroes. The play focuses on the fateful evening at Houston's Esquire Ballroom when Seger hears of Cline's death in a plane crash. Seger supplies a narrative while Cline floats in and out of the set singing tunes that made her famous--Anytime, Walkin' After Midnight, She's Got You, Sweet Dreams, and Crazy--to name a few. Information about Ticket Sales will be added soon! Performance Dates will be: May 12th: 7 PM May 13th: 7 PM May 14th: 2 PM
