Shopping

No matter if you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind vintage armoire, a unique gift for that quirky friend, or a luxury wool scarf, West Virginia is full of shopping outlets to help find what you need. Our hills and valleys feature thousands of local shops including upscale boutiques, oddities and emporiums, specialty foods, antique and flea markets, as well as handcrafted items. Nearly all major cities and towns also have a retail shopping area for national retailers and convenience.

Heavenly Shops in the Hills of West Virginia

Boutique shops are a West Virginia speciality. Our uncrowded mountain towns are filled with unique storefronts that offer one-of-a-kind gifts from hand-painted scenic landscape prints to Almost Heaven apparel. Whether you’re browsing for yourself or a friend, you’re sure to leave with a memorable piece of the Mountain State.

Tamarack

West Virginia’s premier artisan market, Tamarack Marketplace, is more than a shopping destination. The cultural hub of southern West Virginia features all things to shop local, eat local and art local. Enjoy seasonal indoor and outdoor events, which include artist demonstrations, local musicians and concerts.

Tamarack Marketplace displays over 20,000 works of art from more than 2,800 juried artists and artisans (from all 55 counties in the state!). Glass blowing with their resident glassblower is a must!

Flatwoods Factory Outlets

Did you know the widely-recognized, colorful Fiestaware is made right here in West Virginia? Created by the Homer Laughlin China Company, the brightly colored dinnerware can be found at the Flatwoods Factory Outlets. Browse the large selection of dishes, bowls, mugs and more.

Berdine’s Five and Dime

Visit yesteryear with a trip to Berdine’s Five and Dime, America’s oldest dime store. Since 1908, Berdine’s has been selling novelty candies and toys in a friendly atmosphere. As soon as you walk through the doors of this store in Harrisville, you’ll feel like a kid in a candy shop because, well, you are!

Seneca Center

Take a step back in time while you spend an afternoon shopping at the Seneca Center in Morgantown. The repurposed manufacturing complex now houses various speciality shops. Find stylish clothing pieces at Latch Boutique, shop for luxurious soap at Soap Opera or enjoy afternoon tea at The Tea Shoppe. It’s a one-stop shop for an afternoon of shopping.

And these are only scratching surface of the eclectic and unique stores in the Mountain State. Check out the below guides for more of an in-depth look by store type!
