Green Spring Special – Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad

Due to popular demand, we have added more Green Spring Specials in 2018! Previously, we offered this trip just once a year (the last Sunday in October, the last day of the season) for those railfans who enjoyed riding “rare mileage.” We found over the past two years that more families are enjoying this trip because it is shorter and more affordable. The trip to Green Spring is a 1 1/2 hour trip northbound. (It is approximately 25 miles round-trip.) Enjoy river views along the South Branch of the Potomac River as well as beautiful farmland and rock cuts (like Hanging Rock). There is no layover; passengers stay on-board.

All-Day Trip to Petersburg – Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad

On the last Saturday of the month (May – September), we offer an 8-hour trip to Petersburg. This is a longer version of the Trough Trip; it goes further south, to the end of the line, through Moorefield and into Petersburg. (It is approximately 76 miles round-trip.) There is a layover in Petersburg, about 1 1/2 to 2 hours long. Passengers have time to enjoy the South Side Depot as well as shops and restaurants.

The 2018 Miss West Virginia Scholarship Pageant is a three night competition which culminates in the crowing of Miss West Virginia and Miss West Virginia’s Outstanding Teen. To be held in the historic Metropolitan Theater in downtown Morgantown, the event will feature the most beautiful and talented young women from across the Mountain State. Join us for the preliminary competition June 28 and 29 and final competition on June 30. Developed by the Miss America Organization, the Miss West Virginia Scholarship Organization exists to provide personal and professional opportunities for young women and to promote their voices in culture, politics and the community. The program provides a forum for today's young women to express their viewpoints, talents and accomplishments to audiences during the telecast and to the public-at-large during the ensuing year. Almost all contestants have either received, or are in the process of earning, college or postgraduate degrees and utilize Miss America scholarship grants to further their educations.
