West Virginia Three Rivers Festival
The West Virginia Three Rivers Festival officially opens on Thursday, May 25th with the start of the Grand Feature Parade followed by the Opening Ceremonies at Palatine Park in Downtown Fairmont. Cheat River Festival
First weekend in May, every year – Cheat Fest 2017 is May 5th and 6th, 2017. Gates open Friday night from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. The festival grounds in Albright, West Virginia will once again transform into a haven for boaters, music lovers, and families. Bands from all over Appalachia will entertain crowds with live music. Held rain or shine, Cheat Fest is always a good time! There will be activities for the whole family including kids' tents and parade, delicious food, art market, 5K, downriver race, vendors, live entertainment, workshops, silent auction and raffles. Kids under twelve are free! Kids of all ages can congregate at the ever-growing Kid’s Tent from noon ’till 5:00 p.m. on Saturday for a host of hands-on activities.
Chestnut Festival
The American Chestnut dominated the Appalachian Forests, boasting heights of over 100 feet and accounting for 1 in every 4 forest trees... Until a deadly blight discovered in 1904 in New York State put an abrupt end to this story, destroying nearly every American Chestnut in site. Mark the date on your calendar, Sunday 8 October 2017, Columbus Day Weekend, and plan to attend West Virginia’s newest Festival, held in Rowlesburg, WV, along the “big bend of the scenic Cheat River.” If the previous years are an indication of what to expect, then it will be a real treat for all of you nature lovers – come and celebrate the great Appalachian heritage of bygone years when 40% of our forests were covered with American Chestnut Trees, commonly known as the “Redwoods of the East.” The theme of the Chestnut Festival is, “Honoring the research scientists and the heritage of our former ‘giant’ hardwood tree, the Great American Chestnut Tree.” Research scientists are dedicated to restoring hybrid American Chestnut Trees to their former native habitat, which once dominated the hills of the 16 Appalachian States from Maine to Georgia. Park activities are planned for all ages and for all types of interest. They will take place in the Scenic Rowlesburg Park by the Cheat River, 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Activities include, sampling and/or purchasing delicious chestnuts roasted on an open fire; chestnut vendors and other vendors selling their crafts and wares, including jarred chestnuts in honey; purchasing of various chestnut sapling trees for planting; networking with chestnut researchers. Food and beverages will be available at the Park Concession Stand.

New Deal Festival
The New Deal Festival is held annually on the second Saturday in July to celebrate the unique history of the nation’s first New Deal Subsistence Homestead Community of Arthurdale. The event is sponsored by Arthurdale Heritage, Inc., the non-profit organization that formed to “restore yesterday for tomorrow” with the mission of preserving the history of Arthurdale for generations to come. This quaint 1930s-40s style festival features artisan demonstrations, craft market, children’s activities, new exhibits in the New Deal Homestead Museum, tours of the Arthurdale Historic District, a visit from Eleanor Roosevelt, and much more. Arthurdale was founded in 1933 as the nation’s first New Deal Subsistence Homestead Community by President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s administration. The community provided jobs, education, and modern housing for impoverished, unemployed miners living in destitute coal camps in West Virginia. It also served as a laboratory for new educational, industrial, and farming techniques.
WV Bass Federation Championship
The West Virginia Bass Federation (WVBF) is a state wide organization which formed and affiliated with the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society of Montgomery, Alabama in 1973. Presently, the WVBF has approximately 800 members in 64 clubs throughout the State of West Virginia. We are currently affiliated with The BASS Federation (TBF) as a shareholder. Hilly Billy Roubaix
The HBR is a 72"ish" mile dirty road bicycle race in the hollers and on the hills around Morgantown, West Virginia and South Western Pennsylvania, or as we like to call it, West Pennsylginia! The course consists of dirt roads, paved roads, gravel roads and even a few roads that have been abandoned by the State of West Virginia. Don't be mistaken, many have, it is 70+ miles of backroads, dozens of steep climbs, technical gravel descents, one small creek crossing and in case you missed it, a few abandoned roads! The challenging terrain, mud, dirt and the distance of the Hilly Billy Roubaix is not for everyone, but the challenge sure is rewarding! Registration limited to first 500 riders. Mass Start at 10:00 am! There will be CUT OFF TIMES at Aid Station #1, #2, #3 and #4. This must be done, as we cannot ask our volunteers to spend 9+ hours on the side of the road. Mountain Stage with Larry Groce
For more than 30 years “Mountain Stage with Larry Groce” has been the home of live music on public radio. The two-hour radio show is produced in West Virginia and distributed by National Public Radio weekly on more than 150 stations across America and around the world via NPR Music and mountainstage.org. The show, which is recorded before a live audience, features performances by seasoned legends and emerging stars in genres ranging from folk, blues and country to indie rock, synth pop, world and alternative music, and beyond. Singer/songwriter Larry Groce serves as the show’s host, artistic director and co-producer. The Mountain Stage house band includes jazz pianist Bob Thompson, vocalist Julie Adams, bass player Steve Hill, drummer Ammed Solomon and guitarists Michael Lipton and Ryan Kennedy. The band is directed by Ron Sowell. While “Mountain Stage” is based in Charleston, Morgantown has been the show’s second home for more than a decade.
Buddy Guy
Buddy Guy is one of the most celebrated blues guitarists of his generation. For more than half a century, he has blended the genres of blues and rock and roll like no other performer. His early work at Chess Records where he could be found sitting in with Muddy Waters, and his early gigs in Chicago where he became famous for his fiery guitar work and flashy stage style led him to the pinnacle of the blues ‘n’ rock genre for which he is known. Guy has earned seven Grammy Awards—Best Blues Album (2015), Best Contemporary Blues Album (2010), Best Traditional Blues Album (2003), Best Contemporary Blues Album – or Contemporary Blues Recording (1991, 1993, 1995) and the Recording Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Award (2015). He has received the National Medal of the Arts as well as the Kennedy Center Honors and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005 where he was presented with his award by Eric Clapton and B.B. King. It’s no coincidence that Guy counts King among his influences along with T-Bone Walker and Otis “Lightin’ Slim” Hicks but he is also credited with influencing the careers of Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughn. Country Music Day at Adaland features a wide variety of genres of live music on the side yard pavilion. Plays at Adaland
Adaland is most pleased to serve as the showcase for Philippi playwright Alma J. Bennett, who brings one of WV’s important historical figures, Laura Jackson Arnold, the sister of Confederate General Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson, to life in “Dearest Sister”, a one act play that is followed by “Act II.” The plays tell about Laura’s life and relationship with her famous brother. In 1844 when she was 18, Laura married Jonathan Arnold and moved to Beverly. Following the Battle of Rich Mountain in 1861, Federal troops occupied Beverly, a VA town that had strong Confederate sympathies. In stark contrast, Laura Jackson Arnold was an outspoken Unionist, even nursing wounded Union soldiers in her Beverly home. Laura’s Union support created fissures in the once close relationship between Laura and her brilliant Confederate military leader brother. Dessert followed by a live show on pavilion. Adults $15.00.

Special Olympics West Virginia hosts the annual Basketball and Cheerleading Tournament in Morgantown, West Virginia. Athletes from around the state train months in advance to compete against other counties for the gold as they demonstrate their passion and skill for sports through these awe-inspiring basketball and cheerleading competitions. The tournament offers team basketball, individual skills basketball, and cheerleading that features floor cheers and dance routines. We are privileged to partner with West Virginia University and Morgantown High School for some of the best facilities in the area. Come cheer on West Virginia athletes during this exciting event!
North Central WV Home Builders Show
Last year's show, which was held at the Hazel & J.W. Ruby Community Center at Mylan Park, was once again our best show ever, with 140 exhibitors occupying 198 spaces. Attendance was again phenomenal (have ranged from 8500- 10,000 the last 3 years) and we are hoping to make this year's show even better. The North Central West Virginia Home Builders Association "Home Show 2017" is scheduled to be held on March 10-12, 2017. The hours for the show will be from 12 p.m. - 7 p.m. on Friday; 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Saturday; and 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Sunday. Exhibitor set up will be 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 9th. We ask that all exhibitors with larger equipment or booths to please show up early in order to accommodate all exhibitors. Additional set up time will be on Friday from 7 a.m. - 11 a.m. prior to the show start time.

Morning Yoga in the Garden
Join yoga instructors Heidi Sherwin (Fridays) and Sally Tolka (Mondays) to connect with nature, rejuvenate energy, and experience relaxation through yoga. The beauty and serenity of the garden setting provides the perfect environment to stretch, strengthen, center, breathe, and relax. All skill levels are welcome. The Painter’s Palette for Gardening: Using Color Theory in Garden Design
This workshop provides the participant with an in depth look at color theory using the color wheel to design a beautiful garden. The Allies – Pricketts Fort
Enjoy an evening of entertainment with the Allies. The Allies are a six piece classic rock group who have been performing in the area for over 20 years. The Allies enjoy playing a variety of tunes from the 60's 70's and 80's and will have you rockin’ and dancin’ all evening. This evening will also feature an antique car cruise-in.
Pricketts Fort Lecture Series: John Boback, The Western Virginia Backcountry: A Short History of a Very Long Frontier
Jacob Prickett has long been celebrated as being one of the earliest pioneers on the western Virginia frontier. However, John Boback will argue the opposite position by presenting the Pricketts as late comers to the frontier period of history that had actually started over one hundred years before Prickett was even born.

Come out and watch some of the best blacksmiths in North Central West Virginia apply their skills. There will be demonstrations throughout the day on many aspects of traditional and modern blacksmithing.
Colonial Kids Day – Pricketts Fort
Bring the kids to the fort for a full day of fun and educational activities for them to experience. Activities will include life in the militia, games of the colonial child and a story in the Thomas Library. Child must be accompanied by an adult and regular admission applies.

Hearth Cooking Demos – Pricketts Fort
Come out and tour the fort and smell the food cooking over an open hearth, the way food was prepared during the colonial period of our history. Recipes will be available upon request.
