SCENIC DRIVES

This spring, experience Almost Heaven’s vibrant beauty with a trip down one of its gorgeous scenic routes. Experience rolling hills, pristine water, roaring waterfalls, beautiful spring colors and so much more as you navigate your way down West Virginia’s iconic country roads.

Potomac Highlands

The rolling mountains and hills of the Potomac Highlands offer stunning scenic views that make for some of the best drives in the state. Route 32 takes visitors through the beautiful Canaan Valley to the charming towns of Davis and Thomas. Within the town of Davis, travelers will discover Blackwater Falls State Park and some of the finest views on the East Coast. Just a short drive down Route 28 from Canaan Valley leads visitors to iconic Seneca Rocks as well as Spruce Knob – the highest point in West Virginia.

Capital City to New River Valley

From the capital city of Charleston, you can venture down Route 60 along the banks of the Kanawha River to Hawks Nest State Park. Along the way, you’ll enjoy the stunning views of the Kanawha River, Kanawha Falls and Cathedral Falls. From Hawks Nest State Park, a short drive down U.S. Route 19 will lead you to the New River Gorge Bridge – perhaps the most recognizable landmark in West Virginia.

Highland Scenic Highway

The highway begins in Richwood where travelers can head east down State Route 55. The highway runs 43 total miles through the Monongahela National Forest and ranges in elevation between 2,300 and 4,500 feet.
