The Last Gallows: John Morgan’s Farewell
"Gallows" is a new dramatized documentary about the last public execution in West Virginia. John F. Morgan was convicted in 1897 of using a hatchet to murder three family members. He was hanged in front of a crowd of 5,000 spectators in Ripley. The incident was described in a 1965 bluegrass song by Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs.

CAMC Foundation Run for Your Life 5-Mile/2.5-Mile Walk
The CAMC Foundation Run for Your Life supports colorectal cancer screening and awareness. This race begins at Haddad Riverfront Park and takes runners through Charleston, up and around the historic Spring Hill cemetery and back to Haddad Riverfront Park. The walk, beginning in the same location, goes through Charleston and up to the base of the Farnsworth ramp, then turns around and retraces the path. Proceeds from this race benefit the CAMC Foundation to support colorectal cancer awareness and screening. Entry Fees: Registration is $25 if postmarked before June 11 and $30 after. Allies are a six-piece classic rock group who have been performing in the area for over 20 years in various forms. PRICKETTS FORT CHRISTMAS IN OCTOBER
Join us for a unique shopping experience in a historic environment. Artisans and craftsman will demonstrate and feature their work in the Fort’s Visitor Center as well as the grounds surrounding the historic fort. A tour of the fort will be offered with costumed interpreters throughout the weekend. Regular admission applies for tours of the historic fort and Job Prickett House.
