On your way to Huntington, stop in Milton at Blenko Glass to watch glass blower demonstrations or simply check out the gift shop.

Begin the day by exploring Ritter Park, with picturesque walking trails and recreational amenities, all in the heart of a quaint neighborhood designated as national historic district. If you have kids tagging along, they’ll appreciate a whole afternoon filled with kid-friendly fun. Take them to Heritage Farm Museum & Village, where you’ll be able to grab lunch at Our Daily Bread Cafe. Heritage Farm, a Smithsonian affiliate, is a delight for kids and adults alike. Don’t leave Huntington before visiting Marshall University, named after the 4th Chief Justice of the U.S., John Marshall.

End your Metro Valley journey on a high note in Point Pleasant, home of the legendary Mothman. At the Mothman Museum, peruse the vast collection of news clippings and police reports about the sightings, watch a “Search for the Mothman” documentary and see a collection of props and memorabilia from the Richard Gere movie – parts of which were filmed in town. After your folklore fix, Tu-Endie-Wei State Park overlooks the junction of the Ohio and Kanawha rivers and is a great way to conclude your getaway.
