The Mountain Biking Hub of #AlmostHeaven

Nestled within the rugged hills of Pocahontas County lies a mountain bikers’ paradise. The Snowshoe Highlands Ride Center is a world-class biking center, attracting riders from around the globe and received compliments from Bike Magazine. This destination served as the home of the 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2023 UCI World Mountain Biking Championship. The Snowshoe area is an epicenter for bikers. As a result of this growing popularity, the area has gained yet another highly sought after designation.

Growth and Recognition

In August 2019, the Snowshoe Highlands become a Bronze Ride Center recognized by the International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA). Indeed, this major achievement was a huge win for Snowshoe and the entire Pocahontas county community. Through hard work and commitment to growing the sport of mountain biking, another great height has now been reached in 2020.

Just one year after this first achievement, the Snowshoe Highlands Ride Center has been officially upgraded to an IMBA Silver Ride Center! Undoubtedly, this high honor is due to the unbeatable landscapes and the work of the dedicated folks in Pocahontas County.
