Where to catch the (baseball) game in WV

From the thrill of the game to delicious concessions, a baseball game is the best way to spend time with family and friends this summer. If you’re in the mood to catch a game, West Virginia has four minor league baseball teams. Enjoy the game with one of these teams under the lights this summer:

Princeton WhistlePigs

Stop by Hunnicutt Field in Princeton to catch a Princeton WhistlePigs game. The Appalachian League team’s home stadium offers great views stadium-wide and concessions. Enjoy watching the WhistlePigs compete for the Mercer Cup with 11 head-to-head games per season.

West Virginia Mountaineers Baseball

In the heart of Mountaineer Country, the West Virginia Mountaineers baseball team is the varsity intercollegiate baseball program of West Virginia University. The organization has proven itself to be a competitive member of the NCAA Division I Big 12 Conference ever since the 2013 season. While you’re in this booming college town, grab a quick bite and drink at popular restaurants like Mountain State Brewing Company or Iron Horse Tavern.

West Virginia Black Bears

The West Virginia Black Bears are based in Morgantown and play at the Monongalia County Ballpark. The Black Bears are part of the MLB Draft League. The Black Bears have special events, themed games and discount days. The Monongalia County Ballpark is also home to West Virginia University baseball. While you’re in town, visit West Virginia University or grab wraps at Black Bear Burritos.

Charleston Dirty Birds

Charleston is home to the Charleston Dirty Birds, who were previously known as the West Virginia Power. The Dirty Birds compete in the South Atlantic League. Visit GoMart Ballpark to watch the Dirty Birds play and enjoy a beer and snacks. GoMart Ballpark is home to concert series, themed game nights and  several spots for groups to watch the game. Make sure to stick around for post-game fireworks on Fridays. After the game, head to Adelphia Sports Bar and Grille for a bite to eat. Let’s go Birds!
