Blackwater Falls State Park 🌊

Blackwater Falls State Park in Davis is always one of the first destinations in West Virginia to start changing colors. Explore a breadth of color-changing trees surrounding the 57-foot Blackwater Falls, including yellow birch, American beech, black cherry, red maple and others. Blackwater Falls State Park is a must-visit in the fall, and its hemlock needle-stained waters only make this view more distinctive.

While you’re leaf peeping, check in on the West Virginia Waterfall Trail and take a scenic picture on the Almost Heaven Swing!

Elkins 🚂

Head to Randolph County and explore the “Unexpectedly Cool” town of Elkins. This region is especially scenic when you ride aboard the New Tygart Flyer train in the fall. You can learn more about the region’s rich railroad heritage at the West Virginia Railroad Museum.

After your scenic train ride, head downtown and enjoy some local flavors from C.J. Maggie’s, Beander’s, The Forks Inn, Big Timber Brewing Company and several other restaurants. For unique gift items, gourmet deli-style lunches, local art and a seasonal sip from The Crossing Coffee Bar, Delmonte Market should also be on your list.
