Capital City Challenge Triathlon – Run, Row, Ride
Welcome to the Capital City Challenge! The race consists of a 4.2 mile run, a 4.2 mile row, and a 16.8 mile bike ride all along the banks of the Kanawha River. Individuals and groups of two or three are all encouraged to participate. This unique yet competitive event is designed for competitors of all fitness and skill levels. This family-friendly challenge features music, kids' activities, and great door prizes. Solo and team entries are welcome. THE COURSE The order of the race is RUN (4.2 miles from Magic Island to Daniel Boone Park); ROW (4.2 miles from Daniel Boone Park to Magic Island); RIDE (16.8 miles all on paved roads - a 3 loop course from Magic Island to Veazey Street and back to Magic Island - then repeat). The Start-Finish is at Magic Island which is next to the I-64 bridge along the Kanawha River.
Run for the River Triathlon
The start and finish line will be in Meadowood Park at the CRG River Center. The race will consist of the following legs: *A 3-mile run within Meadowood Park *An 8-mile bike ride from Tornado to Alum Creek (Note: The alternate bike route will be utilized due to a road closure on Coal River Rd.) *A 7-mile paddle from Alum Creek back to Meadowood Park. *A quick 1/4-mile run back to the finish line at the CRG River Center Register @ www.tristateracer.com.
Active Southern WV Family Triathlon – Summersville Lake
Participants can compete as an individual or as a team. All members of the team need to complete each leg. Racers will have a 1.2 mile run, 2 mile bicycle ride, and a 1 mile paddle leaving and returning from the beach. There are hills to climb and gravel roads. Participants are to bring all their own equipment and the course is appropriate for ages 9 and up.
31st Annual Great Greenbrier River Race
The Great Greenbrier River Race is a triathlon held in Marlinton, consisting of a 3 mile run, a 4 mile river trip by kayak or canoe, and a 10 mile bike ride. This triathlon takes place along the Greenbrier River Trail and is for the young and old alike. The Great Greenbrier River Race is a family friendly event, and people come from 13 different states to enjoy the event. It's also become a great spectator sport so if you're not in it, come out and cheer for the rest of them.
Sportsfest Glow Run 5K
During the weekend of Sportsfest and the night before Downtown Streetfest is the 5K Glow Run/Walk. Start the course on Capitol Street and run South towards Kanawha Boulevard. Turn left and run East along Kanawha Boulevard and back.
Appalachian Du/Triathlon
The Third Annual Appalachian Du/Triathlon to Fight Cancer will be held as a fundraiser for The Lustgarten Foundation to Cure Pancreatic Cancer (www.lustgarten.org)! This event takes place in the beautiful Monongahela National Forest at Lake Sherwood Recreation Area, WV. The event will start at 9 AM on Sunday, September 11, 2016. The triathlon is a Sprint event with a 740 meter swim, 13.5 mile bike ride, and 5 K run. The duathlon starts with a 1 mile run, followed by the 13.5 mile bike and 5 K run.

America's Largest Small Town Independence Day Celebration features concerts, gospel sing, carnival, 2-mile race, grand parade and fireworks,
Try-A-Tri
The 2nd annual event includes a run, bike ride and kayaking for students in grades 3-7 at Cedar Lakes Conference Center, near Ripley. Kids receive a participation medal and lunch will be provided. The entire event should be over by noon so you will have the rest of the day for other events! But don’t miss this opportunity for elementary and middle schoolers to experience a mini-Triathlon. Just For Kids Poker Run
Take a beautiful scenic ride through two of southern West Virginia's counties where Just For Kids, Inc. provides services for children. This ride welcomes all types of motorcycles and riders. This event will benefit all children who have and are suffering through child abuse on a daily basis. The ride and registration will start at the Beckley Dream Center at 11 AM and finish at ACE Adventure Resort by 5 PM. Hang out after the ride at ACE for live music, raffles and door prizes.
