C & D Bunner Family Spooky Yard Haunt

We are truly a Family Yard Haunt. We have 32 different themed rooms/areas, plus a maze to walk through. Kids Day: October 6 from 1pm - 5pm and October 21 from 1pm - 3pm. All Ages welcome. The kids may wear their costumes these days. We ask that no face masks be worn or anything else on their face please! We will have a face painter available free of charge. The kids get to walk through the Haunt and collect candy and treats. There are no tricks. We will have treat bags to give to the kids this day. The first 50 kids in Saturday and Sunday will receive a T-shirt. Fright Night: October 13 and 27 from 7:30pm - 11:00pm. Please remember this is for ages 12 and up ONLY. These two nights are much darker. All ages welcome, but could be scary for young children; Admission Free; Donations Welcome. Please park at Mt. Nebo Church and walk up or park along side the road were the rope lights are located. We are not handicap accessible.

The new Sagebrush Roundup consists of weekly Saturday night concerts from 6pm - 10:30pm.

Celebration of Lights

Local individuals, families and businesses have sponsored over 420 lighted holiday displays for your viewing enjoyment. These displays decorate the road around Morris Park located on Pleasant Valley Road in Fairmont. Many people and groups volunteer their time to help with the set up and daily operation of Celebration of Lights event. Each year, over 1,000 hours of volunteer time is dedicated to producing this event for the public. Please come enjoy the displays! The event is sponsored by the Rotary Club of South Fairmont.

Marion County Dancing with the Stars

Join the United Way of Marion County and the ​Marion County Chamber of Commerce on October 13, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., for Marion County's Dancing with the Stars. The event will be held at the Falcon Center on the campus of Fairmont State University in ​Fairmont, West Virginia. West Virginia Three Rivers Festival

The West Virginia Three Rivers Festival officially opens on Thursday, May 25th with the start of the Grand Feature Parade followed by the Opening Ceremonies at Palatine Park in Downtown Fairmont. Following this are three days of fun-filled activities for the whole family. Ayreheart @ St. Peter the Fisherman Church

Performing with two lutes, vocals, colascione and percussion, the quartet Ayreheart continues our presentation of early music. Ayreheart was founded by GRAMMY nominated lutenist and composer Ronn McFarlane and plays the music of Renaissance composers John Dowland, William Byrd, and John Johnson as well as old ballad tunes from England, Scotland and Wales. The Washington Times said “…some of the most ravishing lute playing to be heard anywhere”.

Pricketts Fort Lecture Series: John Boback, The Western Virginia Backcountry: A Short History of a Very Long Frontier

Jacob Prickett has long been celebrated as being one of the earliest pioneers on the western Virginia frontier. However, John Boback will argue the opposite position by presenting the Pricketts as late comers to the frontier period of history that had actually started over one hundred years before Prickett was even born.

Sheep to Shawl at Pricketts Fort

Watch how sheep are sheared and then see the various processes involved in preparing wool including carding, spinning and weaving. A shawl will be made at the fort and raffled off on WV Day School tours are welcome on Friday. School Tours: $5.00/student; $6.00/chaperone (one free chaperone admission per each 10 students).

Meet The Author, Richard Fleming

Who in the west has not heard of Wetzel, the daring borderer; the Boone of North-Western Virginia; Wills de Hass, 1851 Lewis Wetzel came of age near the end of the Revolutionary War and was an important participant in the twenty-year war between the woodland Indian Nations and the settlers of western Pennsylvania, western Virginia, and Kentucky. The novel, although classified as historical fiction, traces Wetzel's life over a period of more than twenty years, featuring events and the rich history that occurred in the upper Ohio River Valley, Kentucky, Ohio, and down the Mississippi to New Orleans. According to de Hass, a historian in the mid-nineteenth century, Wetzel's efforts were without parallel in border warfare. The author will be at Pricketts Fort to discuss his book as well as sign copies.

What do an optimistic orphan, disgruntled clown, confused senorita, pirate, narcissistic prince and a Kentucky colonel have in common? A favorite event in Fairmont is the Holiday Historic Homes Tours held the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Sites are open for your entertainment and enjoyment. Most will be decorated for the upcoming holidays; some will have live entertainment.

Free Outdoor Concert : The Allies

Allies are a six-piece classic rock group who have been performing in the area for over 20 years in various forms. With members spread across five counties, Allies have gained friends and fans across north central West Virginia. Allies enjoy playing a broad scope of classic tunes from the 60s, 70s, and 80s; from Martha and the Vandella’s “Heat Wave” to Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song” to Jackson Browne’s “Somebody’s Baby”, Allies will have you rockin’ and dancin’ all evening.

PRICKETTS FORT CHRISTMAS IN OCTOBER

Join us for a unique shopping experience in a historic environment. Artisans and craftsman will demonstrate and feature their work in the Fort’s Visitor Center as well as the grounds surrounding the historic fort.
