Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra

The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1896, has a long and distinguishes history celebrating some of the world’s finest conductors and musicians. The critically-acclaimed orchestra has toured extensively internationally, performing in Europe, the Far East and South America. Under the baton of guest conductor Krzysztof Urbanski, the PSO will perform “Shostakovich Triumphant,” which will include Beethoven’s “Overture to Egmont,” Bruch’s “Violin Concerto No.1” and Shostakovich’s “Symphony No.5.” Urbanski is in his sixth season as the music director of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. Critically-acclaimed violinist Ray Chen will be featured. Chen is the winner of Queen Elisabeth (2009) and Yehudi Menuhin (2008) Competitions.

Mountain Stage with Larry Groce, the home of live music on public radio, is heard weekly on more than 150 National Public Radio stations across America. Join the Morgantown Board of Parks and Recreation on Saturday, August 26th for the Jazz River Festival! This all day, live jazz event will span the Wharf District of the Caperton Rail-Trail and incorporate five different venues, including Hazel Ruby McQuain Riverfront Park. Each venue will host a unique jazz experience, all open to the public. From “Jenny Wilson’s Stone Soul Picnic” in the park to the late night jam at Morgantown Brewing, it’s a great opportunity to enjoy the best in live jazz music and great dining with friends from far and near. Jenny Wilson Trio with Adam Loudin – 1:30-4 pm at the Riverfront Park. Jenny Wilson Trio provides classic jazz arrangements, interpretations of favorite songs, and originals from one of the busiest and most popular jazz ensembles in the region. Veronneau – 7-8 pm, 8:15-9:15 pm, 9:30-10:15 pm at Oliverio’s Ristorante. Veronneau is an acoustic guitar quartet featuring Lynn Veronneau providing vocals in four languages in a high energy act with lots of audience repartee. The Cool Cats are an organ quartet with a powerful yet subtle sound that is accented perfectly with Reggie Watkins trombone skills. Dave Braham is a recognized master of the iconic Hammond B3 organ who will be playing with two life-long friends and musical collaborators, Mark Strickland and Morgantown’s Mark Cappelini. 20th Annual Shepherdstown Back Alley Garden Tour and Tea

The historic town of Shepherdstown WV will hold its 20th annual Back Alley Garden Tour and Tea the weekend of May 21 and 22. The event, which is sponsored by the Shepherdstown Community Club, will include a self-guided walking tour of some 20 private gardens rarely open to the public and an elegant afternoon tea. Incorporated in 1762, Shepherdstown has many interesting 18th- and early 19th-century homes. Many of the gardens on the Garden Tour will be located on the grounds of those homes. The town will be hosting other garden-related activities both days, including a Native Plant Sale on Saturday and a Farmers' Market on Sunday. Both days will also include a variety of other activities for visitors: live music, children's events, carriage rides, displays by local artists, access to local historic sites, and special spring menus at many local restaurants. The Tour and Tea and all the other weekend activities will be held rain or shine. Garden Tour hours will be 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday and 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. The Teas will be offered from 12 noon to 4:00 p.m. each day. Admission to both the Garden Tour and Tea will be $20 per person before May 17, and $25 after that. Wheeling Hibernians Irish Road Bowling Ohio Valley Championship

September 23 at 1:00 p.m.: Wheeling Hibernians Ohio Valley Championship, Wheeling; http://aohwheeling.shutterfly.com The Wheeling Hibernians IRB Tournament is the northern-most event on the WVIRBA Tour circuit. Go to Hale Block Party

The Charleston Area Alliance will present Go to Hale, a FestivALL event, 10 a.m to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 24, 2017 along Hale Street, between Virginia and Quarrier Streets and between Quarrier and Lee Streets. Complimenting the already popular Capitol Street Art Fair, Children's Art Fair and Kanawha County Public Library Street Fair, Go to Hale is a block party with live music, drinks and pop-up shops. Go to Hale is sponsored by Brewer Fire. Go to Hale will serve as the kick-off for the Downtown Open pop-up putt-putt golf course located on sidewalks and green spaces throughout downtown. Each of the course holes is sponsored by local businesses who have worked to finish and personalize the miniature golf platforms with décor and obstacles prior to the event.

Wheeling Arts & Culture Fest

Welcome to the 2017 Wheeling Arts & Culture Fest. The Arts Fest and the Upper Ohio Valley Multi-Cultural Festival have combined efforts to bring comprehensive arts & culture programming to the festival! The festival will be on Friday, June 16 and Saturday, June 17 from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. at Wheeling Heritage Port. The Ohio County Library will continue to host additional literary and historical programming for the festival. The Bridge Jam

Bridge Jam is the perfect complement to your Bridge Day experience. Round out your weekend with this two-day music festival held on the Cascade Festival Grounds at the former Gaines Estate (225 W. Maple Ave.) just two blocks from downtown Fayetteville. The festival includes live music, a variety of craft beers, food trucks, food choices from Fayetteville’s well known restaurants and more. Live music will run throughout the day, making it the perfect location before or after a visit to the historic Bridge Day festival.
