Capital City Challenge Triathlon – Run, Row, Ride

Welcome to the Capital City Challenge! The race consists of a 4.2 mile run, a 4.2 mile row, and a 16.8 mile bike ride all along the banks of the Kanawha River. Individuals and groups of two or three are all encouraged to participate. This unique yet competitive event is designed for competitors of all fitness and skill levels. This family-friendly challenge features music, kids' activities, and great door prizes. Solo and team entries are welcome. THE COURSE The order of the race is RUN (4.2 miles from Magic Island to Daniel Boone Park); ROW (4.2 miles from Daniel Boone Park to Magic Island); RIDE (16.8 miles all on paved roads - a 3 loop course from Magic Island to Veazey Street and back to Magic Island - then repeat). The Start-Finish is at Magic Island which is next to the I-64 bridge along the Kanawha River.

Fiddle Fight & Hoedown

EXPO brings the FIRST MOCO Fiddle Playing Contest! Contest starts at 1pm and may never end! Youth, Adult, and Esquire players will compete for prizes and your delightment! Dragon Boat Race

Dragon Boat Racing is a great team building and networking experience. Some businesses use this event to have an employee picnic while others take advantage of making it a team building event. Whatever the reason, gather your group for a unique experience of paddling a 46 foot long dragon boat on the Ohio River!

New River Gorge Fest

RUBBIN RUBBERZ RAFT RACE: Monday, May 28th. We are super excited to bring you this unique raft race! This race will be held in the lower section of the NRG. The format of the race will be a head-to-head sprint race broken up into multiple elimination rounds. Each heat will be held in a different rapid. For example Heat 1 will be held in Upper Railroad rapid. The winner of each heat will move onto the next heat. Raft length will be 14 ft (give or take 1 foot in length. Tour of Taylor County Bike Race

The Taylor County Adventure Club is pleased to announce the 1st Annual Tour of Taylor County Bike Race. This event will take place on 4 consecutive Saturdays: April 21 and 28, and May 5 and 12. The Taylor County Adventure Club promotes outdoor recreation such as rafting, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, hunting, and bike riding and engages communities, promotes physical health, and provides an outlet for recreation! Scenic Mountain Triathlon

Come join in a weekend of fun and excitement as we play host to West Virginia's oldest triathlon. Since 1985 this event has become a favorite of triathletes and spectators alike. The entire race is held in the Monongahela National Forest (under special use permit). The race starts with a .5 mile swim in chilly Summit Lake. Next is a 17.1 mile bike ride over 3 Kennison Mountain (elevation of 3,988 feet) to the Cranberry Mountain Nature Center. The race concludes with a 6.2 mile run down to the Cranberry Glades and back to the Cranberry Mountain Nature Center to the finish line. Triathletes also have a Saturday packet pick-up and social from 3-7:00 p.m. at the Chamber Office in Richwood. On Sunday there will be a post-race cookout at the finish line at the Nature Center. While the cookout is free for the athletes we welcome spectators to join us for a small donation. (Packets can also be picked up the morning of the race.) This is a spectator-friendly race with lots of food and fun for everyone. Each athlete receives a free t-shirt and awards are given for numerous age groups, genders and teams. The event is organized by the Richwood Area Chamber of Commerce and various sponsors. Mountain Games

Mountain Games celebrates our Appalachian Heritage through life and work experiences of our ancestors, but in a fun competition style event. Events such as Dead Eye Shooting, Tomahawk Throwing and Steel Walker are just a few of the 10 competitions in the games. In addition there will be a Trail Run to start off the day as well as the Inaugural Storytelling Competition. WV Gaming Championship

The inaugural WV Gaming Championship, the tri-state area’s premier video game event, will take place August 12, 2017, in Charleston, West Virginia. Captain Thurmond Challenge Triathlon

Captain Thurmond’s Challenge is an extreme triathlon consisting of 28.5 miles of the most challenging mountain biking, whitewater and trail running the New River Gorge area has to offer! This year, the CTC will be held on August, 5th, 2017 with the starting line in quaint downtown Fayetteville, WV. This race is part of the New River Gorge Challenge Weekend so pack up the friends and family and head on out for a weekend of racing for every level! In addition to the Captain Thurmond’s Challenge on Saturday, August 5th, a charity 5K will also be held in town that morning with proceeds supporting the New River Gorge Learning Co-Op. There is also an awesome FAMILY-FRIENDLY triathlon held Sunday, August 6th in the town of Thurmond, WV, just a short drive from Fayetteville.

Thurmond Triathlon

Bring the entire family and come make memories in the heart of the New River Gorge. This beginner friendly triathlon starts at the historic Thurmond Train Depot, where participants will make their way across the bridge over the scenic New River and bike 2 miles to Stonecliff Beach. From there, the race moves to the New River for a 1.5 mile span of easy paddling on calm waters ( ducky boats are available with pre-registration). In the last leg of the race, racers will run from the Dun Glen Day Use Area and make their way back into Thurmond, running a 2-mile loop of the town.

31st Annual Great Greenbrier River Race

The Great Greenbrier River Race is a triathlon held in Marlinton, consisting of a 3 mile run, a 4 mile river trip by kayak or canoe, and a 10 mile bike ride. This triathlon takes place along the Greenbrier River Trail and is for the young and old alike. The Great Greenbrier River Race is a family friendly event, and people come from 13 different states to enjoy the event. It's also become a great spectator sport so if you're not in it, come out and cheer for the rest of them.

Burton Kid’s Snowboard Camp

Mountaineer Parks and Burton Snowboards are ready and waiting up at Snowshoe Mountain for a total takeover by little shredders! The 3rd annual Burton Kid’s Snowboard Camp is going to be a rippin’ good time and we’re calling all riders ages 4-12 to come on up and ride! Grand Vue Park Mountain Bike Challenge

Think you have what it takes? Put your trail riding skills to the test in the Grand Vue Park Mountain Bike Challenge, open to all ages! This race is sanctioned by the West Virginia Mountain Bike Association (WVMBA) and will include races in three classes: Expert, Sport and Beginner. All classes will start at the Red Barn at 12:00pm: Expert Class - 23 miles Sport Class - 16 miles Beginner Class - 8 miles The trails of Grand Vue Park consist of 20 miles of single track and portions of our 4 miles of double track. Experience the rolling hills and spectacular views of Grand Vue Park. The first 200 racers registered will receive a race t-shirt, pint glass, camping and bike wash.

Scottish Festival & Celtic Gathering–Cancelled

Friday night has a Ceilidh, a party with music, food and conversation. The main Festival is on Saturday all day at the Bridgeport City Park. On Saturday evening we have a concert with our professional entertainers.at the Bridgeport High School.
