Healthy Beginnings

Setting healthy living goals is easy. Sticking to them is not. But it can be! In this class led by Certified Health Coach MaryAnn Post, you'll learn how small steps in the right direction add up to better wellbeing. Topics include: forming habits that stick, healthier food swaps, portion control, developing a positive mindset, and the benefits of spending time outside in nature. Class will include food samples and a walk at the Garden. $30 for WVBG members, $45 for non-members.

Flower Shadow Box Workshop

Join Erin from M.E. Designs and learn how to make a beautiful flower shadow box! Great for celebrating Spring or thinking ahead for Mother’s Day! This class will teach you how to roll your flowers as well as weeding your vinyl quote for the front of the glass. All supplies and tools will be provided. Your kit will include a small (5x7 or 8x8) or large (6x14) shadow box, precut paper to roll for your flowers in a variety of colors, and precut vinyl with a quote that you will learn to weed and apply yourself (multiple quotes will be available for you to choose from). If there is a special quote you would like, please let the artist know by April 28th. Cost of class is $35 for a small box/ $40 for a large box. Class size is limited so Pre-registration is required! The Painter’s Palette for Gardening: Using Color Theory in Garden Design

This workshop provides the participant with an in depth look at color theory using the color wheel to design a beautiful garden. Local Master Gardener Dianne DeAngelis will show how understanding color theory can help you select plants that will achieve a specific look and feel in your gardens. Most appropriate for adults. Oil Painting Class

For ages 12 and over. In this class you will learn about color mixing, brush strokes, and oil paint application. Price includes all materials including canvases and open studio time during class days. This class is offered June 14 and 16, $50 for one class or $75 for both. Egyptian Paste Bead Making Class

There are 12 spots in this class. This is a 2 day class. Discover the world of self glazing clay. This type of clay has been used from the time of the ancient Egyptians. It is perfect for small items and beads. Class will cover making clay, forming and firing. You can make jewlery or small sculptures. At the end of the day your beads will be fired in the kiln so that the following day they are ready to use. Once the beads have been fired, all the sharp edges may need to be removed so you will spend some time sanding and finishing. Then all the finished beads can be made into items of jewelry using various methods. To register please by phone/email in advance- no drop-ins please.

Beginner’s Soap Making Class

Beginner's Soap Making Class. In this class, students will learn the fundamentals of Cold Process Soap Making. We will make a batch of soap using olive oil, coconut oil, palm oil, cocoa butter, and lye. We’ll add Essential Oils and herbs to make a beautiful natural soap. Each student will take home 6 bars of handmade soap. Students will receive safety tips, recipes, and resources to help the beginning soap-maker. Cost: $90 (approximately 2 hours in length) Location: Shepherdstown, WV (Bring a friend and save $15 each off registration) Bring a friend for soap making, and save $15 off registration fee per person!
