Explore the state’s mountains by horseback along tranquil trails, discover the pristine waters of the state’s lakes or camp outside surrounded by the starry night sky. Spring in Almost Heaven is a special time of year that creates lasting memories that’ll never be forgotten.

This spring, experience the world class trails of the incredible Hatfield-McCoy Trail System. Chief Logan State Park, Little Beaver State Park and Twin Falls Resort State Park are all located near trail heads making them the perfect home base for your thrilling ATV adventure.

For something a little more peaceful, spend a day out on the water. Bluestone State Park, Beech Fork State Park, Stonewall Resort State Park, Watoga State Park and Tygart Lake State Park are all perfect spots for an amazing day on the water. These parks also offer incredible fishing opportunities. Look out for bass, channel catfish, bluegill, trout, muskellunge and more along the way.

In the springtime, simply exploring the beauty of Almost Heaven is a favorite activity. The Mountain State is filled with incredible hiking and biking trails. Scenic mountain vistas, waterfalls and beautiful foliage accompany you on these trails. For a leisurely ride, try the North Bend Rail Trail or the Greenbrier River Trail. Pipestem Resort State Park, Coopers Rock State Forest and Watoga State Park all offer beautiful hiking trails. You may even come across wildlife like birds and deer, rolling hills, rock overhangs and more along these trails.

Discover the state’s waterfalls for a unique spring activity. From the amber-colored Blackwater Falls at Blackwater Falls State Park to Glade Creek Falls at Babcock State Park, these wonders of nature will soon become some of your favorite places to visit. Waterfall enthusiasts also enjoy exploring the Upper Falls at Holly River State Park as well as Valley Falls at Valley Falls State Park.
