Lost River State Park
If you’re looking for a peaceful mountain escape, then Lost River State Park is the place for you. Nestled in the woody mountains of Hardy County, this 3,934-acre park features two accessible vacation cabins you can book during any season. These modern cabins have heating and air conditioning, gas fireplaces, a fully equipped kitchen, and more.
The park offers a variety of recreational facilities that will keep the whole family busy. For a more low-key adventure, pack a lunch and utilize one of their many picnic shelters throughout the park. Take time to appreciate the fresh air and peaceful views.
Canaan Valley
Found in the heart of Tucker County, the outdoor experiences at Canaan Valley will not disappoint. Both Canaan Valley Resort State Park and Blackwater Falls State Park are great for those wanting a break from the hustle and bustle of city life. And to top it off, each park offers endless accessible accommodations. Both lodges have accessible rooms to ensure every guest has a great stay, and Canaan Valley Resort has two accessible cabins as well.
Take in the scenery of Blackwater Falls using the park’s Gentle Trail, a 0.2-mile, wheelchair accessible path that offers an unforgettable, birds-eye view of the amber waters. If you find yourself in The Valley during the winter time, head over to Canaan Valley Ski Resort. They offer adaptive ski lessons, which provide highly specialized equipment such as sit-skis, sliders, and stand-up outriggers and incredible instructors.
Stonewall Resort State Park
Stonewall Resort State Park is perfect for a luxurious, hidden retreat in the hills. The 2600-acre Stonewall Lake is the park’s main attraction, offering outdoor water activities and more than 80 miles of shoreline to explore. Situated lakeside, this two bedroom rustic cottage sleeps up to six people and is equipped with a front door ramp as well as grab bars in the bathroom.

Watoga State Park
Bigger is better at Watoga State Park, West Virginia’s largest park. Covering over 10,000 acres, Watoga offers an outdoor oasis just waiting to be discovered. They have 10 modern cabins, two of which are accessible and available for bookings all year round. If you’re looking for a more off-the-grid experience, you can reserve accessible campsites at the park from February 15 – March 14.
Watoga is the perfect destination for nature and history lovers alike. The neighboring Droop Mountain Battlefield State Park is home to an onsite Civil War museum, exhibiting relics and other items from the 1863 Battle at Droop Mountain– great for any history buff.
