A warm breeze and a sunny sky in Almost Heaven mark the start of the state’s fair and festival season. Around the state, fairs and festivals bring entertainment, fun, music, the arts, craft food and drink and in the summertime. Get your calendar ready because you won’t want to miss out on these one-of-a-kind fairs and festivals in West Virginia:

June

Martinsburg Art Festival

Enjoy watching the arts come alive at the Martinsburg Art Festival on June 15, in the beautiful downtown area of the city. At the Martinsburg Art Festival, there will be live music, art demonstrations, kids “make-it-take” tent, artist vendors, youth art vendors, food and so much more.

FestivALL

FestivALL is a city-wide, multi-arts festival in Charleston, that features exhibitions and performances from music, theater, dance, visual art, humanities and more. This year, FestivALL will celebrate 15 years with 15 days, June 16-30. FestivALL is perfect for strolling and exploring Charleston and enjoying creative events such as the Downtown Open, Sunrise Carriage Trail Walk with Music Art and Dance, Live on the Levee, Court Street Live and more.

Minco Music Heritage Festival

The inaugural Minco Music Heritage Festival, June 17-23, in Keyser, will feature seven days of a variety of music including bluegrass, rock, country and more. Also, at the festival visitor can enjoy food and drink vendors, crafts and games. With an abundance of live music and fun this inaugural event will be a highlight of the summer.

Homegrown Festival

The Homegrown Festival, July 4-6, at stunning Snowshoe Mountain Resort, is a three-day celebration of Appalachian culture. Festival-goers will enjoy three days of live music, art, fun games and, of course, a can’t-miss mountaintop fireworks show to celebrate Independence Day.

Mountain State Art & Craft Fair

The Mountain State Art and Craft Fair, July 4-6, at the Cedar Lakes Conference Center in Ripley has a little bit of something for everyone. The fair will feature incredible artisans, Appalachian music and delicious food. The fair will have amazing guest chefs offering cooking tips, interactive exhibits with make-it, take-it projects and heritage artisans sharing traditional Appalachian crafts.

Marshall County Fair

County fairs are always events to look forward in the summertime and the Marshall County Fair is one you won’t want to miss out on. The 71st annual Marshall County Fair, July 21-27, will include classic carnival rides, music, food and fun for the entire family.

Augusta Festival

An annual celebration of traditional music, dance and craft, the Augusta Festival, July 26-27, is a highly anticipated event each summer. Held at the beautiful Heritage Center of Davis and Elkins College, the Augusta Festival is fun for all with live music, workshops, craft demonstrations, jam sessions, children’s activities and more.

Mercer County Fair

If you enjoy county fairs, then you’ll love the Mercer County Fair on August 2-3. The Mercer County Fair is two days filled with food and baking contests, carnival rides, rodeo, live music, children’s games and competitions.

State Fair of West Virginia

This year marks the 95th annual State Fair of West Virginia, an iconic event held each summer in Almost Heaven. This year’s State Fair of West Virginia will feature concerts by Justin Moore, Cody Jinks, TobyMac, Riley Green, Jimmy Fortune, Lorrie Morgan, Cole Swindell and Alabama. This event is perfect for creating family memories, trying delicious fair food, riding rides at the Reithoffer Carnival and more. There are so many fun activities to do at the State Fair of West Virginia.

West Virginia JeepFest

The West Virginia JeepFest, August 2-5, in Eleanor, is a unique festival home to obstacle course, live entertainment, beautiful trail rides and more. While you’re there, enjoy tasty food and drinks, vendors, great music and an all-around fun time.

Monongalia County Fair

Explore the scenic Mountaineer Country region and experience the Monongalia County Fair on August 13-17. This year, the fair will include competitive exhibits, auctions, motorsports, rides, games and a number of incredible vendors.

Sternwheel Festival

Get ready to enjoy a day by the water at the Sternwheel Festival, September 12-14 at Wheeling Heritage Port. This year’s schedule of events includes live bands, children’s activities, fireworks and of course, the main event, sternwheel boats.

WoodsFest

Enjoy a day spent viewing and finding gorgeous works of art at WoodsFest, September 14 at the Woods Resort in Hedgesville. Here, festival-goers can find woodworking, painting, jewelry, metal-work, ceramics and kids will enjoy special activities just for them.
