The Mountain Explorer Dinner Train is a popular Mountain Rail Adventure that departs the theater district of historic downtown Elkins in Randolph County on select Saturdays throughout the summer season. The 1950s diesel-powered locomotive, pulling comfortable, climate-controlled vintage passenger coaches, follows the Shaver’s Fork of the Cheat River to the High Falls of Cheat. The Mountain Explorer dinner train features a four-course meal served on-board during the four-hour round trip, and also offers a Murder Mystery with dinner, once a month, June – October.
