Celebrate America’s birthday in the Northern Panhandle from the Wheeling Waterfront. You can start off your Fourth of July celebration on a high note by listening to a patriotic performance by the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra at 7:30 p.m., followed by fireworks at dusk. Enjoy free admission, and arrive early to secure the perfect viewing spot.

Mountain Town Charm in Fayetteville, WV

Celebrate Independence Day in one of America’s coolest small towns. Fayetteville’s 4th of July Heritage Festival is a five-day celebration that offers fun for the entire family with a parade, fireworks, food vendors, craft vendors and live music. Get a close view of the quirky, decorated floats lined up in the parade. The festival ends with a bang as fireworks will fill the Fayetteville Town Park sky at dusk.

Celebration Tip: To experience more of what Fayetteville has to offer, such as dining at Cathedral Cafe or spending the night in a quaint bed & breakfast, plan for a day or two before or after July 4, as most local businesses will be closed for the holiday.

Experience The Charleston Sternwheel Regatta

The Charleston Sternwheel Regatta is known for its vibrant live music and food vendors, but you can also expect some spectacular fireworks on the Fourth of July. If you’re coming just for the fireworks on Tuesday at 9:30 p.m., arrive early to secure your desired watching spot. Don’t forget to check out all that the event has to offer, including a classic car show, sternwheeler races and more!

Celebration Tip: There are parking garages scattered throughout downtown Charleston. Arrive early, park in the top floor and unload your camping chairs for an unmatched view of the Almost Heavenly fireworks.

Mountaineer County Fireworks in Morgantown, WV

For the perfect Fourth of July weekend, head to Morgantown for the Independence Day Celebration. Ruby Amphitheater at Hazel Ruby McQuain Park is just a 10-minute drive from I-79 and provides a great view of the Monongahela River. The park opens to the public at 5 p.m., with the Independence Day Celebration starting at 7 p.m. You and the whole family can enjoy food truck vendors, face painting, musical performances and all things unique to Mountaineer Country. Fireworks begin at 10 p.m., concluding the fun-filled festivities.

The charming village of Barboursville provides many great spots to see fireworks. Bring yourself or the whole family to watch the fireworks come to life at 10 p.m. There are many great vantage points to enjoy the show from, but check out the view from Nancy Cartmill Gardens if you want one of the best lookouts in the town.
