Your must-Sees at the State Fair of West Virginia

Summer isn’t complete until 10 days of fair fun begins!

The State Fair of West Virginia started on Aug. 8 and runs through Aug. 17, featuring food, games, rides, music and more every day. The annual fair marks the end of summer in the Mountain State and people travel from all over to experience this unique event.

There are a few must-sees to add to your list when visiting the fair. Let us help:

Concerts

Special guests will be performing at the fair, including Justin Moore, Cody Jinks, TobyMac, Darci Lynne, Rily Green, Jimmy Fortune, Lorrie Morgan, Cole Swindell, Alabama, and Jeff Foxworthy. Tickets are available on the State Fair website.

Fair Food

The 2019 New Fair Food Contest features 9 food items from vendors that will be competing to win the title of “Best New Fair Food.” Items include a bacon, maple and walnut ice cream; fresh shrimp and grits; and cauliflower buffalo wings.

Carnival Rides

Enjoy family-friendly rides, like the circus train, helicopter or kiddie scrambler. Or, try more adventurous ones, like the tornado, sizzler and zipper.

Agricultural shows

When you visit the State Fair of West Virginia, you’ll find livestock animals, horse shows, competitive exhibits, agricultural education and more. One of the most popular attractions is the Farm Credit Dairy Birthing Center, which brings 20 pregnant cows each fair. You’ll have a chance to watch a live calf birth – just keep an ear out for the announcer!
