1. 6th Annual Morgantown Brewing Company Oktoberfest
Oct. 3-4, Morgantown
Morgantown Brewing Company’s annual weekend Oktoberfest is a local favorite. Dressed in traditional German garb, the staff will be pouring brews all day in the Bier Garden, and traditional German food will be available inside and outside. Kid’s craft table, fun games and live music await!
2. Bramwell Oktoberfest
Oct. 10, Bramwell
Southern West Virginia’s popular Bramwell Oktoberfest showcases favorite beers from around the East Coast. Enjoy beer tastings, live music, fine food and more along historic Millionaire Row. Musical entertainment includes Todd Burge, Jean Hanna Davis and Blue Yonder.
3. West Virginia Public Theatre’s Oktoberfest
Oct. 17, Morgantown
New this year is the inaugural West Virginia Public Theatre’s Oktoberfest at MylanPark in Morgantown. National Radio Talk Show Hosts will MC the day and attendees of all ages are welcome to come dance to some of the area’s best Oompa bands. Enjoy a day filled with authentic Bavarian food, drink and entertainment!
4. OktoberWest
Oct. 17, Charleston
Charleston’s annual West Side Main Street festival features a variety of local and regional craft beer, local foods courtesy of Dem 2 Brothers, Mi Cocina de Amor, Stuff It, Bridge Road Bistro and more, with entertainment by popular local bands The Company Stores, Davisson Brothers Band and the Devon Allman Band.
5. Boo!Fest Creepy Cocktail Crawl
Oct. 23-31, Shepherdstown
Historic Shepherdstown’s annual week-long Halloween celebration features a variety of activities for all ages, including a Haunted Walk, Thriller Dance and Street Party, Costume Competition, Vampire Ball and a late-night showing of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” at the Shepherdstown Opera House. But while the kids are having fun, the grownups can enjoy a Creepy Cocktail Crawl through several local pubs. So don your sheets and chains and pick your poison!
6. Hops & Heat
Oct. 24, Charleston
The East End Bazaar’s Hops & Heat combines two of our favorite things: Appalachian craft beer and homemade chili. The event will feature more than 30 craft beers from more than 10 West Virginia breweries– perfect for washing down all those cups of chili you’ll be sampling.
7. HallowEast Pub Crawl
Oct. 28-31, Charleston
Charleston’s Washington and Elizabeth Streets will be closed for the biggest party of the year during the annual HallowEast Pub Crawl on Oct. 31. Don your scariest, nuttiest or silliest costume and visit 9 East End pubs to enjoy drink specials and entertainment. Pub Crawl participants also get access to the street party featuring music by Coach Kid, Qiet and Nick Scott. Other HallowEast activities include ArtMares art show, an outdoor showing of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” at Laidley Field, Main Street Murder Mystery, East End Zombie Walk and Scared Sprintless 5K Zombie Race.
