Treat Yourself to an Almost Heaven B&B Getaway
Spring is just around the corner and let’s face it– it always feels like such a long haul to get there. That’s why you deserve a fun-filled trip for making it through.
Shake off the winter blues from this dark and dreary season at one of these 5 dreamy bed and breakfasts.
1. Angler’s Inn
Harpers Ferry
You don’t have to be a master fisherman to stay at this stunning Victorian B&B. Though if you are, there are prime spots you can’t miss out on right by the inn.
The Angler’s Inn is nestled in a beautiful part of the Mountain State, very near to the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers. Fuel up with a breakfast made from scratch before heading out to explore all the area has to offer. Whether you’re a history buff, outdoors-person, or just love to experience a new place, Harpers Ferry has something for everyone.
2. Old Victorian Inn
Alderson
Life moves at a slower pace in Alderson, and you should too when you visit. This charming B&B was built in 1903 and is located in the National Register Historic District of Alderson. It’s also positioned directly across from the Historic 1896 C&O AMTRAK Depot.
Start the day by leisurely waking up and enjoying a homemade breakfast in the lovely dining room. Then venture out around the Greenbrier River and make your way to the sweet downtown area. Once you’ve had your fill of adventurous activities, head back to the B&B for some R&R. Or, hop in the car for a quick drive to the neighboring town of Lewisburg.
3. The Barn with Inn
Wellsburg
Staying at The Barn with Inn will be an experience like you’ve never had before. The B&B is described as “rural elegance,” by the innkeepers Harry and Chatman and is set on the functional Highland Springs Farm. The farm animals are lovingly referred to as “farmily.”
Spend the night in the main farmhouse, barn stall or barn loft. The accommodations have been newly renovated and tastefully decorated in antique and rustic furnishings. This spot is so sweet you’ll never want to leave.
4. Brass Pineapple Bed and Breakfast Inn
Charleston
Positioned in the heart of Charleston’s historic district, the Brass Pineapple is the perfect home base for a trip to Almost Heaven’s capitol. The B&B is just half a block away from the State Capitol Complex, a riverfront walking trail and delicious local eateries.
Plan your ventures around the inclusive B&B goodies. A full breakfast is served each morning and an afternoon tea with sweets and hors d’oeuvres is available in the afternoon.
5. The Inn at Lost River
Lost River
What better place to get lost than The Inn at Lost River? This unincorporated community, named after a river that gets “lost” underground, is only 2 hours from Washington D.C., but its surrounding mountains and farmland make it the perfect place to escape for a relaxing weekend.
The B&B has three spacious guest rooms in the Main House and two private cottages on the property. You won’t even need to leave the premises for meals. A three-course breakfast is provided in the morning and you will receive a credit to spend at The Lost River General Store and Cafe, adjacent to the B&B.
