Tourism & History Day FAQ

Have a question about participating in Tourism & History Day at the Legislature? Check out the answers to this list of frequently asked questions:

Can I set up my table or shared display on Tuesday?

📆 Early Set-Up 1/27: Partners may set up the day before Tourism & History Day from 4:00–5:00 p.m. After parking in public parking, enter the Capitol through the West Entrance security doors. A registration table will be located outside the Governor’s Reception Room for name tags and table assignments. Please allow extra time for security, as the building closes to the public at 5:00 p.m.

Will I be allowed to leave items overnight on the day before?

Materials on tables may be left overnight at your discretion. The building will be closed to the public after 5:00 p.m. and security personnel will be present on Tuesday afternoon until the time of closure.

The building will reopen to the public at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

While the building will be monitored by Capitol Police at all times when it is open, no high-value items should be left out on tables unattended.

When do I need to be there on January 28th?

If you are tabling, we encourage you to be in the Capitol by 8:30 a.m. and at your assigned table by 9:00 a.m. to ensure enough time to complete your set-up by 10:00 a.m.

Tabling for registered partners is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28th, and at least one person should be staffing your table or shared regional display during this timeframe.

The time you need to arrive will depend on how long it will take you to check-in and set up your display materials. You will have the opportunity to set-up the day before, as noted above, and you can access the Capitol Building and go through security starting at 8:00 a.m. on January 28th.

Read ‘Where Should I Park?’ below for more information on parking.

If you are not tabling, you will not need to be there for set-up and the event begins at 10:00 a.m. on the 28th.

What do I need to bring?

You will need to bring a tablecloth that fits your table and the items you would like to display.

Since you will need to walk from the shuttle drop-off by the bus turnaround to Building 1 and through the building, please bring a wagon or cart if you have bulky items that will be difficult to carry.

Please note: Power access is limited. If you need access, please let us know in advance. This will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Where should I park?

Industry partners may park at Laidley Field or in metered parking on the Capitol grounds. If parking at Laidley Field (Lot 7 and Visitor Parking), shuttle service will be available throughout the day and runs approximately every 10-15 minutes during the morning run and every 30 minutes during mid-day and afternoon runs.

The general shuttle schedule is as follows, and we have asked the drivers to run more frequently for this event if possible:

  • Mid-Day: 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
