Mountain Games celebrates our Appalachian Heritage through life and work experiences of our ancestors, but in a fun competition style event. Events such as Dead Eye Shooting, Tomahawk Throwing and Steel Walker are just a few of the 10 competitions in the games. In addition there will be a Trail Run to start off the day as well as the Inaugural Storytelling Competition. For the kids there is a great Kids Zone for children 6 and younger to enjoy and participate in their own activities. This year's event features a Lumberjack Duel with STIHL Timber Sport Champions Arden and Matt Cogar battling head to head. This is an event you DO NOT want to miss. Dirt Dash Trail Run
Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 6, 2017 for the Dirt Dash Trail Run and the Rocky Ridge 15K. The Dirt Dash course is five tough, but beautiful miles through the Greenbrier State Forest. Expect lots of hills, single track trail and lots of amazing scenery. You will be on six different trails during this challenging adventure.
Cooper’s Rock Stump Jump
Hop some rocks and jump some stumps at the third annual Coopers Rock Stump Jump! 10K Trail Run. Celebrate the start of fall at Coopers Rock State Forest as trail runners tackle a beautiful and challenging 6.2-mile foot tour or our favorite local forest. Join ACE Adventure Resort for two weekends of scary fun. Explore the abandoned adventure resort and discover its haunted history. With over 1,500 acres there are many dark corners for creatures to hide. As you move from building to building keep on your toes because you never know who or what is watching you. Feeling really brave and think you are fast? Challenge the pack of zombies unleashed Halloween day while you compete against other victims...we mean racers in ACE's first 5k zombie run. Survive it all and join us to celebrate Halloween night at the Lost Paddle Lounge for a great party with live music.
New River Gorgeous Trail Run
Join ACE Adventure Resort for the 14th Annual New River Gorge-ous Trail Run & Walk. There are three race options – 13.1 mile, 8.5 mile and a 5 mile walk. All the courses wander through deep hardwood forests and offer spectacular views of the New River and the historic town of Thurmond. All participants are welcome to join us for a free burrito lunch during the award ceremony. And yes, we also have hot (or cold) showers available for runners...
