A Tour of the Night Sky

Kathryn Williamson, Teaching Assistant Professor and Planetarium Director, WVU Department of Physics & Astronomy, will be leading a tour of the night sky. The evening will start with a talk about some of the highlights in the night sky, including planets, star clusters, and galaxies as well as the origins of the Perseid meteor shower which peaks on August 13. This will be followed, weather permitting, with the opportunity to look at some of these objects through telescopes. Wear warm clothes and keep cell phones on “night mode” to preserve night vision. All ages. Free for WVBG members; $15 for non-members. Space is limited, register today! Please pre-register for ALL activities 48 hours in advance at www.wvbg.org. All activities take place at the West Virginia Botanic Garden, 1061 Tyrone Road, Morgantown, WV 26508 unless otherwise noted. Park in the lower parking area. Programs will last approximately 1.5-2 hours unless otherwise noted. Donations are appreciated and can be made online, or at the kiosk by the lower lot. Please refrain from bringing your pet to activities.

Secret Kitchens of Wheeling Tour and Gourmet Market

Enjoy a voyeuristic tour of some of Wheeling’s spectacular kitchens Saturday, June 10 during the Secret Kitchens of Wheeling Tour & Gourmet Market. Begin the self-guided tour between 10am-2pm at the Mansion Museum in Oglebay. You’ll receive a map guiding you to home kitchens tucked away in some of Wheeling’s finest neighborhoods. Kitchens provide design inspiration. You’ll take away ideas for kitchen re-dos and discover simple ways to transform an existing space too! In addition, guests can shop the Gourmet Market from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. outside the Mansion Museum. Merchants and artisans sell kitchen accessories, artwork, baskets, gourmet foods and much more. Market shopping is free, and participation in the tour is not required to shop. Get Tickets for Secret Kitchens of Wheeling Tickets are $17 in advance and $20 the day of the event. Pricketts Fort Buckwheat Pancake Breakfast

Help us celebrate the first week of spring with a delicious buckwheat breakfast catered by Linda Jack. History Alive presentation on Julia Child begins at 11:30 am. Price includes meal and audio tour of the fort. Breakfast and tour $14.50 (must RSVP for breakfast by Wednesday, March 22).
