5th Summersville Lake Lighthouse Heritage Celebration & Car Show

Join us for the 5th Birthday of the Summersville Lake Lighthouse Heritage Celebration festivities on Saturday, June 16 from 10am to 6pm on the Lighthouse grounds. Heritage Artisans and Crafters from throughout the state will be showcasing their skills along with live Appalachian music, entertainment, raffles and a Classic Car Show, and K9 Demonstrations. Live entertainment at the Gazebo features EmmaLea Deal from 11am to 2pm, who is headlining the Lighthouse's 5th Birthday Heritage Celebration. The Humane Society and the Nicholas County Animal Shelter will have kittens and puppies available for adoption. All Lighthouse Tours will be $5 per person on the day of the Celebration. Come out and spend the day with us!

1st Miss Lighthouse Festival Pageant

May 12th is the 1st Miss Lighthouse Festival Queen where all ages (baby through Mrs.) will be competing. Divisions will be Baby 0 - 1; Tiny Miss 1-2; Little Miss 2-4; Jr Miss 5-7; Pre Teen 8-10; Jr Teen 11-13; Teen 14-29; Miss 18-29; unmarried Ms. and married Mrs. 21+. We will be awarding our Miss Queen a $500 scholarship to go to the Miss WV USA!!! Our Queens will reign over our Lighthouse Festivals on June 16 and August 25th and more. $5 Door Entry Fee at the Nicholas County High School. For more information, contact Julie at 304-872-5975.

West Virginia Mountain State Gospel Singers -June Convention

The West Virginia State Gospel Singing Convention strives to preserve the old-time camp meeting and singing traditions with the annual sings held in June, July, and September. The facility is in the farm section of Nicholas County with approximately 30 acres of beautifully kept grounds. It is a place where families can plan for a weekend of camping with good old fashioned fun or just come for a day and enjoy some of the best of Gospel singers from WV and several surrounding states. Tabenacle with inside seating - ALL SINGERS WELCOME- Campground: Tent, camper, motor home or bus....modern restrooms, showers, limited electric (light, fan & amp; ref. only), dump station, food service available during each singing session. No charge for camping (Donations accepted to help with utilities, ground maintenance, and sound equipment) Handicap friendly. Pets on leash. Tour busses welcome. May Day Festival

Since ancient times, people have celebrated the return of spring. Join us at the Tawney Farm's Gauley River Wild & Woolly Primitive Campground for a cure to cabin fever. Come experience springtime in Appalachia! Take part in workshops such as Wild Mushroom Foraging, Medicinal Herbs Identification and Foraging, Bird Watching, Wool Processing and Felting, and Outdoor Sketching and Painting; compete in farm games including the Hay Hoist, Tire Flip, Feed Bag Race, Egg Toss, Horseshoe and Corn Hole Tournaments; win great prizes, listen to live music, and a enjoy a traditional ramp feast including ramps, pinto beans, ham, cornbread, fried potatoes, cole slaw and dessert.

Fear the Forest – Haunted Hayrides

The last two weekends in October, come experience the Fear the Forest Presents "CarnEvil Haunted Hayrides" at the Summersville Lake Retreat & Lighthouse where Evil Coachmen take you on a tractor driven hayride thru the forest, and where carnivorous creatures of the night will scare the living daylights out of you!

Active Southern WV Family Triathlon – Summersville Lake

Participants can compete as an individual or as a team. All members of the team need to complete each leg. Racers will have a 1.2 mile run, 2 mile bicycle ride, and a 1 mile paddle leaving and returning from the beach. There are hills to climb and gravel roads. Participants are to bring all their own equipment and the course is appropriate for ages 9 and up.

Cabela's is the Official Sponsor of the Event and will be on hand all afternoon teaching archery this year. Tamarack Artisans and Crafters from throughout the state will be showcasing their skills along with live Appalachian music, great food, entertainment, raffles and a Classic Car Show. Live entertainment at the Gazebo includes EmmaLea Deal 11am to 2pm, who is headlining for “Rudy Elvis” performing from 3pm to 5pm. The Humane Society and the Nicholas County Animal Shelter will have kittens and puppies available for adoption. All Lighthouse Tours will be $5 per person on the day of the Festival. New this Year will be Gotcha! Archery Games which features Archery Tag, $5 per player per game or $15 for unlimited. Don't forget to stop at the booth to sign a card for a soldier from WV Ambassadors for Adopt A US Soldier and sign up for a membership with the Air Evac Life Team who will have their 16' Air Evac Helicopter on display. Face Painting, Balloon Animals and Henna Tattoos by Paint MisBehavin' is new this year along with Woodbine Jams & Jellies and LuLaRoe. Back again by popular demand is the Almost Heaven Sunset Slush, Dickies BBQ and the Rolling Stove. The Cruise In that was held during the 2015 festival drew over 55 Classic Hot Rods and Vintage Automobiles from every era. Farthest driven was Kenny Smith's pristine 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS from Akron, Ohio. Crowd favorite was Bill Bibb's 1953 Rolls Royce Silver Dawn from Oak Hill, West Virginia. 2016 was our 1st Car Show which was a success. The Best of Show was Chris Kappler's 1937 Packard from Oak Hill and the Best Classic was Oak Hill's Bill Bibb with his 1929 Lincoln Continental. This year we are again listed on the National Street Rod Associations Calendar of Events for West Virginia. Last year we had over 130 classics and hot rods. As there are only 130 spaces available for 2018 Summersville Lake Lighthouse Festival & Car Show. Those of you planning to show your ride should not delay in contacting our office to register for this year and "Save the Date! August 25th". Summersville Lake Retreat Representatives will be picking the "Best of Show" and a Celebrity from WSAZ TV 3 will be picking the winner of the "Best Classic", Cabela's will be picking the "Best Truck" and United Bank has sponsored the "People's Choice" Trophy. We will also be having a "Kid's Choice" Trophy sponsored by Summit Racing Equipment for the first 50 kids to pick their favorite vehicle.

27th Annual Grape Stomp Wine Festival

Join us for the 27th Annual Kirkwood Winery Grape Stomp Wine Festival. Come enjoy two days of wine and bourbon tastings (no bourbon tasting/sales on Sunday) visit the food and craft vendors, our gift store, stomp some grapes or join in the grape eating contests, get your photo taken in the Happy Little Photo Bus, take a covered wagon ride, dance around or relax in your bag chair and take in all the tunes provided by our exciting line up of entertainment!!! WV Quilt Festival
