Dance Gala featuring Taylor 2

The Paul Taylor Dance Company is one of the world’s most sought after and respected ensembles in the world. The smaller six-member Taylor 2 was established in 1993 to ensure that Mr. Taylor’s works could be seen by audiences all over the world without regard to economic or logistical limitations. Their engagements are flexible and customized to meet the needs of the area. Mr. Taylor’s works are performed by companies throughout the world that include the Royal Danish Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, San Francisco Ballet, Miami City Ballet and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. Paul Taylor is one of the most accomplished artists that this country has ever produced. His choreography is hailed for it’s musicality. He has set works to an eclectic mix of music that varies from classical symphonies to scores from Ragtime and Tin Pan Alley. Mr. Taylor has received nearly every important honor given to artists in the United States and his companies continue to inspire dancers and choreographers everywhere. Critics and audiences cheer the athleticism, humor and range of emotions found in Mr. Taylor's work. West Virginia companies, The Charleston Ballet, under the direction of Kim Pauley, and River City Youth Ballet Ensemble, under the direction of Michelle Raider, will also perform. Tickets: $22 available at Clay Center box office (304-561-3570) and online; tickets also available at Charleston Ballet and River City Youth Ballet studios in advance or at the door 1 hour prior to show time.
