Devils Den Bike Fest

The Hatfield McCoy Convention and Visitor's Bureau in partnership with the Hatfield McCoy Recreational Trails and Mountain State Harley Davidson invite you to join us for the 2nd annual Devil's Den Bike Fest from September 21st thru September 22, 2018. The two day event challenges motorcyclists to ride the winding, twisting history ­ packed roads that were once home to "Devil Anse" Hatfield and site’s made famous by the Coal Wars. Riders have the chance to compete for over $2,000 worth of cash and prizes. In addition to the music and food that were popular at last year’s event we will be adding a Poker Run.

Outdoor Adventure & Safety Fair at RD Bailey Lake, Guyandotte Point Rec. Area

The US Army Corps of Engineers presents the Outdoor Adventure and Safety Fair at RD Bailey Lake. This family fun event will have different activity stations focused on nature, safety, and outdoor recreation. Activity stations may include a mobile aquarium, tomahawk demonstrations, casting skills challenge, hunting skills challenge, youth archery range, kayak demonstrations, fire safety house, water safety activities, Smokey the Bear, Bobber the Water Safety Dog, and much more!

Skirmish On The River

Come see how your ancestors lived during that turbulent time! There are live battles on Saturday and Sunday. Educational Day for students is Friday. Ladies Tea Saturday at Noon. Period costumes and Dance Saturday night. Cannon Night Firing. Camps open to the public all weekend.

King Coal Festival

The King Coal Festival is Mingo County's oldest and longest running festival. Each year on the third weekend in September, craft and food vendors line the streets of Williamson and one coal miner is crowned "Mr. King Coal." Music, community block party, and a parade finish out the evening.

Hatfield McCoy Marathon

The Hatfield McCoy Marathon was founded in 2000 and sponsored by the Tug Valley Road Runners Club. Our inaugural race began with just 13 runners. Now we welcome over 1,000 runners! So, whether you want to complete the full 26.2 miles, 13.1, a double half, or even a 5K, the Hatfield McCoy Marathon has a run for you! Oh yeah, if you are a "50 Stater" you can choose either West Virginia or Kentucky as the race state because you'll be running through BOTH! Ranked one of The Weather Channel's Toughest Marathons, Road Runner Magazine's Most Fun Races, RRCA Championship Race, and Red Bull's Must Have Medals.

Williamson Halloween Bash & Fireworks Display

Come enjoy Halloween in a safe & family-friendly atmosphere at the Williamson Field House. Games, prizes and treat bags for the children from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. At 8:30 p.m., it will be time for a Spectacular Halloween Themed Fireworks display produced by WV Pyrotechnician complete with haunted music by Hall Sound and UFO Attack. Come see the 100 foot fireball! You don't want to miss this show!!!

Mayhem In The Coalfields: Concert

Join us for a night of rock/metal at the Williamson Field House. 5 Bands for $5.00! Some of the best live music our area has to offer! Bands include: One In The Chamber Sever The Wicked Through The Woods Apologetic Venom Timeframes Concessions will be available at an additional cost. Hot Food, Cold Drinks! Hatfield McCoy Country Museum Grand Opening

Announcing the opening of the brand new Hatfield McCoy Country Museum! This museum features one of a kind artifacts from the regions history, informational displays about the Hatfield and McCoy feud, our coal heritage and more. Other attractions include the interior of a 1920's coal camp house, the Underground Theater that looks like the inside of a coal mine, the Bee Ward Coleman collection--one of the largest collections of coal mining artifacts in the country. The museum is located in the former Williamson High School building. Come enjoy the grand opening of one of the best museums in the state of WV!
