Augusta Folk Arts for Kids “Augusta Explorers”
Augusta Folk Arts for Kids “Augusta Explorers” will take place from 9 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m. July 31-Aug. 4 on the Davis & Elkins College campus. Artist Emily Prentice will instruct the class focusing on Appalachian culture and the great outdoors. Class activities will include nature walks, plant identification, weaving, party games, ghost stories, square dancing, printmaking, singing and much more. Augusta Explorers will earn merit badges as they take in all that Augusta has to offer. Registration is open at www.augustaheritagecenter.org. 2017 National Scout Jamboree Visitor Days
Day visitors have access to the Summit Center during the Jamboree. The Summit Center is the hub of Jamboree activity and is home to the stadium shows, the military exhibits, conservation trail, Disabilities Awareness Area, Sustainability Treehouse, merit badges, and a wide variety of other exhibits and displays. Observers and participants can see all the above listed items and visit the main retail store, purchase retail food items, and experience Brownsea Island. In addition those who purchase a participant pass can experience other elements of the Summit Center, including Boulder Cove, Challenge Course, Skate Board Plaza, Mountain Biking, Shooting Sports, Climbing, Zip-lining, and BMX riding. Visitor access to activities is based on availability. Activities may be closed at times due to adverse weather conditions. Day visitors do not have access to the base camps or activity areas. Visitor Logistics Shuttle transportation to the Summit Center from the visitor lot is provided with your pass. Visitor shuttles run regularly all day during the Jamboree. All visitors will be required to return to their cars when visitation hours end each day. Upon arrival, all visitors will see a Youth Protection presentation. For everyone’s security, all bags may be screened or checked. The last shuttle to the Summit Center will depart from the visitor lot two hours before the posted closing hour. On, Saturday, July 22, 2017, the last shuttle to the Summit Center will be 6pm. We can’t wait for you to visit the 2017 National Scout Jamboree.
