Cookies & Canvas Library Event

Come join us for our Cookies & Canvas Painting Event with Deborah Ross Smith as our Paintbrush Social Instructor! Create a painted masterpiece on canvas, while nibbling on a sweet treat. All supplies included (paint, canvas, and sweets). Be sure to wear clothes to paint in! Participation open to adults of any age and children 13 and older. Good Earth Art for Kids

Calling all nature-loving artists and crafters! Join us to celebrate and honor the Earth by creating with natural materials discovered at summer’s end. Led by WVBG Educator Stacy Clovis-Woofter, we’ll enjoy the playful process of creating, learning more about other environmental artists, and take home a uniquely personal creation to display at home. Kids Container Gardening: Growing Organic

Join us for an exciting program featuring local author and Avian Conservation Center of Appalachia’s Director Katie Fallon reading her new children’s book "Look, See the Farm"!, followed by a container gardening workshop with WVBG Educator Stacy Clovis-Woofter. Katie and Stacy will teach kids about the different types of organisms and wildlife that thrive in organic gardens and farms, and children may discover these lessons firsthand in their take-home organic container gardens. Terrarium Garden Workshop

What is a terrarium garden, how can you design your own, and what kind of maintenance will it need? Come find out during this hands-on workshop with Master Gardener Kelly Barnard. History, types, and maintenance of terrariums will be discussed followed by making your own to take home. Half gallon glass terrarium and all other materials included. Bring your significant other in for a creative evening at the WOW! “Ice Age Death Trap: Uncovering Mammoths, Mastodons, and Other Vanished Beasts”

A large number of 100,000 - year old fossils discovered during construction at a Colorado ski resort provide scientists with clues to some of North America’s most interesting prehistoric creatures. Stop at the Discovery Table and make a hand-held fan featuring a picture of one of these Ice Age creatures.

Relax with us at the Elk Valley Express Library and make a wintry sock snowman. All materials and step-by-step instructions will be provided. There is a limit of 10 participants. Cross Lanes Branch Holiday Open House

Get in the holiday mood at the Cross Lanes Library's Annual Holiday Open House. Several activities are planned, including music by Andrew Jackson Middle School Choirs, and making holiday crafts. A very special guest will arrive at 7:30 p.m., so bring your camera. Cookies and punch provided by the Cross Lanes Library Advisory Board and the Woman's Club of Cross Lanes.
