The Music and the Mountains Old Time Festival

The Music and the Mountains Old Time Festival will showcase and celebrate Appalachian culture and craft. This community based, family friendly event will bring together local artisans and musicians to provide an opportunity for our local community and visitors to experience Appalachian craft demonstrations, old time music and dance traditions along with regional food. Friday night's concert will feature old time, traditional Appalachian music. Saturday afternoon events will include: local craft demonstrations, a display of regional archival photographs, old time children's games and activities, an open old time community jam, a cornbread contest and a soup bean dinner. Saturday night will offer beginner square dance lessons and a square dance bard and caller.

Little Levels Heritage Fair

Putnam County is home to a wealth of artists, artisans, musicians and writers. Tastes and Talents features these creatives in fun and engaging ways. Enjoy specials at locally-owned restaurants throughout Putnam County in March. Attend our Putnam County Artisans pop-up shop, take an art class, listen to local musicians, or meet local authors at events throughout the county. East End Bazaar – Art of Carving

The East End Bazaar is an open-air artisan market featuring a variety of functional and collectible arts and crafts. The Bazaar provides local and regional artists and craftspeople a much-needed venue to display and sell their wares. The selection you will discover at the Bazaar includes an assortment of paintings, jewelry, sculptures, stained glass, handmade crafts (such as soaps, textiles, and baskets,) photography, value-added food (such as jams and honey,) pottery, hand-blown glass, and much more. Aside from our skilled artisans, local musicians and performers are showcased each week at the Bazaar, along with a variety of local food vendors and producers of farm-fresh fruits and vegetables. Dates and times: May through September--2nd and 3rd Saturday's, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Brown Bag Concert

Brown Bag Concert is a free lunchtime concert in Davis Park, along the corner of Capitol and Lee Streets in Downtown Charleston. Grab your lunch from a participating Downtown Charleston restaurant, or pack your own, and make your way to Davis Park for a free concert. The concerts are designed to showcase the talent of local musicians, encourage people to get away from their desk at the lunch hour and put a spotlight on the green space in Downtown Charleston. Local musicians perform in the park 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. the third Wednesday of each month May through October. Tables and chairs will be setup for those attending.

The market aids in economic development by encouraging entrepreneurialism and tourism, and it contributes to the East End’s ongoing revitalization as a thriving, vibrant arts district.
