Livingston Taylor picked up his first guitar at the age of 13, which began a 50-year career that has encompassed performance, songwriting, and teaching. Livingston recorded his first record at the age of 18 and has continued to create well crafted, introspective, and original songs that have earned him listeners worldwide. His musical knowledge has inspired a varied repertoire, and he is equally at home with a range of musical genres—folk, pop, gospel, jazz—and from upbeat storytelling and touching ballads to full orchestra performances. Town of Man Street Fair
The Town of Man is celebrating their 100th Anniversary with a street fair from July 18, 2018 through July 21, 2018. The four day celebration kicks off with cake and ice cream at 3pm and a parade to follow at 6pm. A car show will be held on July 19, 2018. The 100 year celebration will wrap up with a two day town fair event with food, crafts, vendors, bands and more! Fireworks at dusk on Saturday evening.

Join the Morgantown Board of Parks and Recreation on Saturday, August 26th for the Jazz River Festival! This all day, live jazz event will span the Wharf District of the Caperton Rail-Trail and incorporate five different venues, including Hazel Ruby McQuain Riverfront Park. Each venue will host a unique jazz experience, all open to the public. From “Jenny Wilson’s Stone Soul Picnic” in the park to the late night jam at Morgantown Brewing, it’s a great opportunity to enjoy the best in live jazz music and great dining with friends from far and near. The Wheeling Jamboree 84th Anniversary
The Wheeling Jamboree has been presented at over 20 different Venues in the greater Wheeling area since it’s inception back in 1933 and the landmark Capitol Theatre is its most widely recognized. State Fair of West Virginia
The State Fair of West Virginia is the quintessential summer activity. The offerings run from the agricultural to the acrobatic, in the largest multi-day celebration in West Virginia. The State Fair of West Virginia constantly reinvents its successful formula with a new theme each year and new performances and exhibits. Each year features special ticketed performances by big name musical acts, which in past years have included the iconic country band, Alabama and popular Bluegrass singer, Allison Krauss. The free family entertainment also changes yearly with past popular acts featuring dare-devil motorcyclists, trained wolves, magic acts and wild tigers.
Rhythm of the Dance
This dance and music extravaganza is a tour of Irish tradition. Combining ancient with contemporary, the show features a live band, three tenors, and over 20 dancers from the National Dance Company of Ireland.
11th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr., Day Celebration: “Nonviolence is Courageous”
The Community Coalition for Social Justice will explore the theme of “Non-violence is Courageous” during its Eleventh Annual Martin Luther King, Jr., Day Celebration on Monday, January 16, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at the Metropolitan Theatre, 373 High Street, Morgantown. The program will feature music in the lobby before the event, a welcome by Morgantown Mayor Marti Shamberger; music by the Flying Colors, Morgantown Children’s Choir, the Morgantown Community Orchestra, and the Cheat Lake Elementary School Choir; and a performance by children from the Shack Neighborhood House. Jeremy Thomas will recite sections of Dr. King’s speech “Where Do We Go From Here?,” and Lt. Matt Solomon of the Morgantown Police Department will talk about how “Police Officers are Peace Officers.” Art students from St. Francis Central Catholic School provide posters to publicize the event. The Morgantown Police Department is providing coloring and activity books on “How to Handle Bullying” for the children attending, and Rachel Wood of Virtus Wealth Solutions purchased crayons for them. High school HSTA students will assist at the event. This program is free and open to the public.
