The 1862 battle is of significant historical value to our nation and a valuable West Virginia Landmark. Battlefield Barn Bash includes: historic Potomac river crossing (water levels permitting) and tours of the Shepherdstown Battlefield, food, music, and living history re-enactments.
Runaway slaves who came into Union lines were called contraband, or enemy property confiscated by the Union Army. Step back to the tense times when the lives of these freedom seekers were in limbo.
Complete with infantry, cavalry and artillery, get a glimpse into West Virginia’s Civil War history with the reenactment of the 1863 Battle of Dry Creek. The event takes place every August at the Greenbrier State Forest in White Sulphur Springs.
