Mushroom Walk

WVU Professor of Mycology Dan Panaccione will lead us in search of forest fungi. He will show us how to identify the native mushrooms at the garden by their unique characteristics. Emphasis will be on general biology, not edibility. All ages. Free. * Please register by September 14. * All activities take place at the West Virginia Botanic Garden, 1061 Tyrone Road, Morgantown, WV 26508 unless otherwise noted. * Free walks and presentations last approximately 1.5 hours. Donations are appreciated and can be made at the Lower Parking Lot Kiosk at any time. * Please refrain from bringing your pet to activities.

Osbra Eye Memorial Wildflower Walks

Hit the trails at Kanawha State Forest for the annual Osbra Eye Memorial Wildflower Walks. One of WV's premiere spring wildflower walks! Multiple hike and leaders. See wildflowers and trees in bloom and learn about the general ecology, insects, and herpetology of the forest. Event includes a Variety of Walks, including Wildflowers, Medicinal/Edible Plants, Trees, Beginning and Advanced Birding. (Be sure to bring a camera & binoculars!). There is also the option of a driving tour. Register at 8:30 a.m. at the swimming pool area. Adults $5; Students under 16, $2. Hot dogs, soft drinks, and cookies for sale. Door prizes, raffle. Walks 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Forest Understory Plants and their Associated Canopy Species

Research Botanist Cindy Huebner will lead a walk focusing on the identification of herbaceous plants and tree seedlings located in forest understories. We will also cover diversity and plant composition patterns found in particular forest types. Most appropriate for adults. Free. Dungeon of Horrors

Over 10,000 people each year are introduced to one of the scariest places behind bars! Get your tickets so you can experience the fright of being locked in a cell, the fear of being lost in a maze, and the terror of an eerie walk through the dungeon of horrors. Will you manage to keep up with your group and not get separated? Do you have what it takes to make it through? Don’t worry, our actors will be there to help you along…… Groups go every 15 minutes starting at 7PM! It will take you at least 45 minutes to get through this haunted house! If you are planning on attending the North Walk the same night, you MUST schedule them AT LEAST 1 HOUR AND 30 MINUTES APART!
