Beech Bark Disease: A Long Established Forest Disease in West Virginia Reaches Monongalia County

Beech bark disease was first reported in WV in the early 1980s and has since spread throughout the higher elevations in eastern part of the state. In April 2016, BBD was discovered for the first time at the West Virginia Botanic Garden. During this presentation, Dr. Matt Kasson, WVU Assistant Professor of Plant Pathology, will discuss the history of the disease and potential factors influencing its progression.
