Wild for Pollinators
In celebration of National Pollinator Week, join us to plant a container garden with pollinator-friendly flowers and herbs (container, plants, and soil included). Led by WVBG Educator Stacy Clovis-Woofter, participants will also learn tips to create garden habitats for a variety of pollinators, including native bee species, honeybees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Floriography: The Secret Language of Flowers
Floriography is a system of communication that uses flowers, plants, and other natural objects to send secret messages to others. Many cultures throughout the years have used a version of floriography, but today it is relatively unknown. Join West Virginia University (WVU) graduate student Alice Morgan and learn more about the rich history of a hidden language and the meanings behind the plants you see every day. Kids’ Container Garden: Awesome Blossoms for Mom
Join us to decorate a cheerful garden pot filled with spring flowers for Mom, Grandma, Aunt, or a special friend in honor of Mother’s Day. Participants will also learn about West Virginia’s Anna Jarvis, who organized the first Mother’s Day service, and make a heartfelt card to include with their gift. Outlander Plant Walk
OUTLANDER fans, this season’s presentation by Kay Jones will focus on the flowers named in the series of books and shown in the TV series and what these flowers have meant throughout time. Come learn about OUTLANDER’S powerful use of flowers to tell stories. Most appropriate for adults who have some knowledge of the OUTLANDER books or TV show, but all are welcome to learn. Fairy Garden Workshop
In this Fairy Garden Workshop, gardeners will be able to create their own secret garden all in one container! There will be assorted containers and miniature plants to choose from to help personalize each garden to your own liking. Everything you need will be provided from ground cover, to decoration and more, come and join us as we explore fairy gardening together! Come learn basic arranging skills only this time in a basket! Join local floral and interior designer Aaron Sears at Plantology Emporium, 1344 University Ave., and choose from an assortment of baskets and spring flowers: snapdragons, larkspur, carnations, asters, mums, daisies, and more! West Virginia Botanic Garden Bulb Container Garden Workshop
Join local floral and interior designer Aaron Sears at Plantology Emporium, 1344 University Ave., to learn basic bulb knowledge and make your own container garden. Choose from an offering of containers and customize with bulbs including daffodils, tulips, hyacinths, crocus, and more! Just in time for Easter, and once the bulbs are done plant them in your yard and enjoy them for years to come! PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED FOR THIS EVENT BY NO LATER THAN MIDNIGHT ON MARCH 8.
