Fayetteville Farm Days

Join us for Fayetteville Farm Days from August 24th - 26th. Our main event will be Saturday, August 25 from 9am to 1pm at the Fayetteville Convention & Visitors Bureau. This event will feature many of our local farms in the area. Meet local farmers; enjoy farm demonstrations, crafts, and fun activities for the kids. The Fayetteville Farmers Market will also be going on from 7:30am -11:30am. New to this year, we will be hosting Fayette County farm tours.  Participating farms will be opening up for public tours on August 24 and Sunday, August 26th. Stay tuned for our farm tour schedule.  Head over to one of our amazing restaurants in town to enjoy a farm-to-fork meal. Participating Fayetteville restaurants will be running specials featuring farm fresh ingredients. We are looking for farmers to represent their local farms or for farmers willing to offer hands-on demos at the event. Fayetteville’s Wild Weekend

We want to invite you to come on an adventure with us and discover all of the nature that Fayetteville has to offer. We are celebrating what makes Fayetteville so wild with a nature festival from August 10th through the 12th. From educational programs designed specifically for youngsters and adults to guided hikes in the New River Gorge along with adventure activities. Fayetteville’s Wild Weekend will offer a variety of activities and workshops for all ages and interests. Come and celebrate the features, creatures, and culture that make Fayetteville the unique place that it is. Get up close and personal with the Snakes of West Virginia as Roy Moose kicks off our events Friday. Stay tuned for a full schedule of events from nature paddle boarding tours to salamander talks. Join us for our Foraging Workshop on Sunday. We will have a nature market and educational booths set up at the Fayetteville Convention and Visitors Bureau on August 11th from 9am to 1pm. Map Release Featuring The Art of Brian Zickafoose at The Station

Come witness the unveiling of Fayetteville's 2018 Official Visitor’s Adventure Map! Fayetteville has a new town map. We are excited to announce that award-winning artist, Brian Zickafoose, has teamed up with the Fayetteville Convention and Visitors Bureau to create the 2018 Official Visitor’s Adventure Map! Join us at The Station on Thursday, June 28 at 6pm to celebrate the release of our new Adventure Map with an artist reception. Brian Zickafoose has taken a bird's eye view to bring America's coolest small town to life. The map will showcase points of interest throughout town including lodging, restaurants, retail, and outfitting businesses. Please help us celebrate with all those who make our community so special and such an incredible destination for visitors. Come experience the art of Brian Zickafoose and get the first peek at our Adventure Map.

Solar Music Fest

Come join us for our 5th Annual Solar powered Music Festival in Fayetteville, West Virginia: the only festival where you can sign up for a solar power co-op, enjoy a music festival fully powered by the sun, learn about environmental sustainability, and take a trip down the New River! Keeper of the Mountains Foundation started this music festival to bring people together, support musicians, and educate communities about energy alternatives. It is only together that we can move forward into a brighter future.

Fayetteville Lion’s Club 4th of July Celebration

Celebrate America’s birthday in America’s coolest small town.  We invite you and your family to join our community in celebration and to experience the magic of our small-town Independence Day Celebration.   The Fayetteville Lion's Club will host the 4th of July Celebration kicking off the festivities on the evening of the July 3rd with live music leading into a town-wide celebration on the 4th. This free event features fun activities for the whole family, vendors, food, live entertainment, and more. Enjoy ice cream and a day full of wholesome summer fun. Nothing says summer like a watermelon spitting contest or try your hand at our hula hooping contest, adults are welcome to join. Do you think you have the best cobbler? Enter our Cobbler baking contest. One of the highlights of the celebration is the Fayetteville Lion's Club 4th of July Parade where you will see an explosion of patriotism with decked out floats. Bring a blanket and stay all evening, relax on the courthouse lawn and enjoy some live music. The festivities will be capped off by a fireworks extravaganza at the Fayetteville Town Park at dusk on 4th.

Fayetteville’s Mad Hatter Tea Party

In celebration of the Mountain Music Festival Weekend Fayetteville is hosting a Mad Hatters Tea Party. Down the rabbit hole we go… You don’t want to be late for this very important date! Come join the Mad Hatter and his friends for a fun-filled afternoon of tea, delicious goodies, and yard games. Fun for all ages. You are welcome to come dressed as your favorite Alice in Wonderland character, dressed for high tea, or in your flip flops! Anything goes! We will host an 11am tea and a 1pm tea. Seating is limited. Join us on the New River with a SUP! There are two separate sessions to choose from - Thursday May 3rd or Sunday May 6th. Meghan, owner and instructor of Mountain Surf Paddle Sports (MSPS) will go over safety, equipment, and special SUP techniques to help you gain confidence on the river. Meet at Dun Glen parking area near Thurmond on the New River. Thursday May 3rd at 5:30pm or Sunday May 6th at 12:00pm For ages 16 and over. Board, paddle, pfd, and helmet included in price! We will start out at Stone Cliff on the New River and go over different safety components to think about when on a river with paddle boards. We will also go over equipment you should have or leave at home. Next we will move to the eddy and practice river specific stroke. We will then move into the current and practice out newly learned skills. After some practice we will head down stream through two sections with ripples along a 2 mile stretch of river down to Dun Glen.

New River Gorge Fest

RUBBIN RUBBERZ RAFT RACE: Monday, May 28th. We are super excited to bring you this unique raft race! This race will be held in the lower section of the NRG. The format of the race will be a head-to-head sprint race broken up into multiple elimination rounds. Each heat will be held in a different rapid. For example Heat 1 will be held in Upper Railroad rapid. The winner of each heat will move onto the next heat. Raft length will be 14 ft (give or take 1 foot in length. Each team will have 4 paddlers. A video with a better explanation will soon be posted. GET YOUR TEAM TOGETHER! ACE ADVENTURE USED GEAR SWAP: Memorial Day weekend. Bring in your used gear to sell! Reel Paddling Film Festival: Saturday, May 26th. Come join us at the Fayetteville Downtown Theater for a night of some of the best river and whitewater films! Fayetteville’s Nature Scavenger Hunt

In celebration of the New River Gorge Wildflower Weekend, Fayetteville is having a town-wide nature scavenger hunt April 26th -29th. For a cool new way to discover historic Fayetteville, look no further than your phone. To join us on this interactive scavenger hunt you will need to download the Klikaklu app. (free) This Scavenger Hunt will give residents, visitors, families and friends an opportunity to uncover clues that will lead them on an adventure discovering the nature that Fayetteville has to offer. We encourage everyone and all ages to participate, you can explore solo or compete as a team or family. All participants who complete the scavenger hunt can stop by the Fayetteville Convention & Visitors Bureau to claim a small prize.  Share your adventures during the hunt by tagging us #visittheville for a chance to be featured on our page.

Vintage in the Ville

Watch the whole town of Fayetteville transform into a pickers paradise for “Vintage in the Ville”. Join us as we welcome hundreds of visitors in search of amazing bargains and hidden treasures. Discover a forgotten treasure while enjoying Fayetteville’s small-town charm. Vendors will set up their tent shops on the streets down the center of town. The market will open on Friday at 8 am and will close at 6 pm. Enjoy shopping for unique finds, antiques, jewelry, vintage furniture, clothes, toys, artisans, and more! It reopens at 8 am Saturday until 6 pm. Make it a weekend and enjoy shopping in Fayetteville’s awesome antique stores and enjoy town-wide yard sales. Wildflower Weekend – Fayetteville Nature Scavenger Hunt

Celebrate Spring in Appalachia at the Fifteenth Annual New River Gorge Wildflower Weekend! Celebrate the glories of Appalachian spring from the rim of the gorge to the river at the Fourteenth Annual New River Gorge Wildflower Weekend, April 27 to 29, 2018! Explore the area’s natural diversity at programs in New River Gorge National River, Babcock State Park, Hawks Nest State Park, Little Beaver State Park, Pipestem Resort State Park, and Tamarack. There will be events throughout the New River Gorge at our national and state park sites! Fayetteville will also be having a town-wide Nature Scavenger Hunt during the Wildflower Weekend. Stop by the Fayetteville Convention & Visitors Bureau to pick up a scavenger checklist. This will be a photo scavenger hunt you can participate in all weekend long. Take pictures all the items on the list and stop back by the Fayetteville Visitor Center for a small prize. All programs are free! Bring water and wear sturdy hiking shoes for guided walks. Fayetteville’s First Annual Egg Decorating Contest

The Fayetteville Convention & Visitors Center is egg-cited to announce its first Egg Decorating Contest. Kids of all ages are welcome to participate and we will also have a category for adults. The winning eggs in each category will be displayed at the Fayetteville Easter Egg Hunt and awards and prizes will be presented after the egg hunt on March 31st.

Adult Glow In The Dark Egg Hunt Fayetteville

Why should kids have all the fun? Join us for Fayetteville’s first “Adult Easter Egg Hunt”. You will not want to miss out on this “Eggciting” opportunity. We will have hundreds of eggs hidden all over. Many of the eggs will be filled with coupons to redeem “Eggcellent” prizes. Visitors are encouraged to join in on the fun. You must have a wristband to participate and be 18 or older to enter the hunt. To add to the challenge we will be hunting for the eggs in the dark. Join us for a fun glow in the dark egg hunt! Wristbands can be purchased at the CVB-$10 for 1 or 2 for $15. Prizes will be awarded (TBA).

Fayetteville Christmas Craft Show

Catch the spirit of the season at the Fayetteville Annual Christmas Craft Show in the heart of Fayetteville. This indoor craft event occurs the first Saturday in December presented by the Fayetteville Women’s club. The fair is open from 9:00am- 5:00 pm. Shop various handmade artisan items and other vendors. Enjoy raffles and fun, food is also available on site. The Craft Fair is held in the Fayette County Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Building downtown Fayetteville. Fayetteville’s Old Time Christmas Celebration

Nestled in the picturesque mountains of West Virginia you can step back in time and enjoy Fayetteville’s Old Time Christmas Celebration. Fayetteville gets all dolled up for the holidays celebrating with true small-town flair. Escape the hustle and bustle of the holidays and enjoy a getaway with your family. You can shop small and enjoy strolling around historic downtown Fayetteville as the storefronts come to life with Christmas displays all month long. The town square will be lit up like a Christmas storybook with lights strung and fresh greenery bringing the town square to life. The Festivities kick off December 1st with Fayetteville’s Annual Christmas Parade. Head over to see the light show at the Fayetteville County Park and participate in the Ugly Sweater Run. Fayetteville’s Christmas Craft Show is held Saturday, December 2nd with over 50 craft vendors. The Grove will be hosting The Fayetteville Arts Coalitions Holiday Sampler during that evening. Experience the town coming together for the Greening of The Town. Make cookies with Santa at The Station, enjoy hot cocoa from Koolbeanz or a Christmas treat from Sweet T’s Candy Land Bakery, lots of activities for the kids, carols, and a town-wide ugly sweater contest.

Fayetteville Fall Foraging Workshop & Hike

West Virginia and the Appalachian Mountains are a forager’s paradise. Join us for Fayetteville’s first Foraging event with our Fall Foraging Workshop & Hike on Saturday September 30th at Arrowhead Bike Farm. Fall is the perfect time to learn about the skills involved in foraging for wild food. Discover the delicacies that can be found in the woods. Roots, tubers, and shoots, greens, buds, and flowers are among the various plant structures that are available for harvesting. Follow a local legend the “Berry Man” Mitchel Dech as he leads our foraging hike. This event will be hands on exploring the trails of Arrowhead and the surrounding property to discover, discuss, and learn about edible plants in their habitats. Come prepared with comfortable shoes for moderate 2-mile hike. After the hike gather back on the deck for lunch on the bike farm. Enjoy some locally foraged snacks and tea. Looking for something fun to do? Come check out Fayetteville’s Merchant Mix and Match! The Fayetteville Merchants are hosting this event from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the last Thursday of every month. Come take a stroll around downtown Fayetteville as your favorite locally owned shops and restaurants pair up for this fun event. You will find restaurants giving out free samples in your favorite shops and shops set up at restaurants. Enjoy live music and fun activities throughout town during the event. Fayettevilles Merchant Mix & Match

Enjoy a stroll around Historic Downtown Fayetteville as our locally owned shops and restaurants pair up together for this special event! Restaurants will be teaming up with shops giving out free samples. There will be live music, karaoke, activities, displays, special offers, and lots of fun things going on throughout the event. There will also be artists and performers set up throughout town.

Captain Thurmond Challenge Triathlon

Captain Thurmond’s Challenge is an extreme triathlon consisting of 28.5 miles of the most challenging mountain biking, whitewater and trail running the New River Gorge area has to offer! This year, the CTC will be held on August, 5th, 2017 with the starting line in quaint downtown Fayetteville, WV. This race is part of the New River Gorge Challenge Weekend so pack up the friends and family and head on out for a weekend of racing for every level! In addition to the Captain Thurmond’s Challenge on Saturday, August 5th, a charity 5K will also be held in town that morning with proceeds supporting the New River Gorge Learning Co-Op. There is also an awesome FAMILY-FRIENDLY triathlon held Sunday, August 6th in the town of Thurmond, WV, just a short drive from Fayetteville.

The Bridge Jam

Bridge Jam is the perfect complement to your Bridge Day experience. Round out your weekend with this two-day music festival held on the Cascade Festival Grounds at the former Gaines Estate (225 W. Maple Ave.) just two blocks from downtown Fayetteville. The festival includes live music, a variety of craft beers, food trucks, food choices from Fayetteville’s well known restaurants and more. Live music will run throughout the day, making it the perfect location before or after a visit to the historic Bridge Day festival. Festival grounds will open Friday evening at 8:00 p.m. with music running from 8:30 p.m. to midnight, then again on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. with music running from 12:30 p.m. to midnight. Tent camping and RV spots can be reserved on the grounds both Friday and Saturday nights.
