Gallery Opening | Good Enough to Eat
Tamarack’s David L. Dickirson Fine Arts Gallery is hosting Good Enough to Eat*, an art exhibition. A traditional still life of fruits and veggies, abstract interpretations of "food porn," a classic teacup and saucer combo, conceptual social commentary of the food industry, an unexpected serving platter; everything food related is on the menu for this exhibition. Good Enough to Eat* ..., is an exhibition of fine art and craft celebrating food. Tamarack's David L. Dickirson Fine Art Gallery is seeking a vast breadth of two and three dimensional artwork, decorative and functional, in any media that corresponds with the theme of food. The exhibition will feature artists’ works from around the state, in a multitude of media. The opening reception is August 11, 5pm - 7pm, in the gallery, with live music by Sam Stephens.

All activities take place at the West Virginia Botanic Garden, 1061 Tyrone Road, Morgantown, WV 26508 unless otherwise noted. Park in the lower parking area. Programs will last approximately 1.5-2 hours unless otherwise noted. Donations are appreciated and can be made online, or at the kiosk by the lower lot. Please refrain from bringing your pet to activities.

St. Albans Easter Egg Hunt
Enjoy this annual spring celebration in the City of St. Albans. 3-4 year olds are from 11-11:30, 5 and 6 year olds are from 11:-12:00, 7-9 year olds are noon – 12:30, and 10-12 year olds are 12:30-1:00, special needs egg hunt begins at 1:00.
2018 Easter Carnival at the State Capitol
The annual Easter Carnival at the State Capitol will take place Saturday, March 31 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Easter Bunny will be on hand for pictures with children and families. There will be games, face painting, clowns and craft stations for children to enjoy and food stations with hot dogs, popcorn and other snacks. At noon, there will be drawings for children's bicycles. The Easter Carnival is free and open to the public.

Wheeling Symphony presents “East Meets West”

Music Director André Raphel examines the percussive, sweeping rhythm of Tan Dun’s “Symphonic Poem of 3 Notes” and the dazzling, colorful orchestration in Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Scheherazade” (inspired by Arabian Nights). Two time Grammy nominated violinist Jennifer Frautschi joins the WSO performing Beethoven’s “Violin Concerto,” a dramatic lyrical showpiece.

Davis Stuart Horse Show
Davis Stuart is hosting their second annual Open Horse Show at the WV State Fairgrounds on Saturday, May 13 -- RAIN OR SHINE! Registration begins at 10am with the show beginning at 11:00. Entry fee is $8 per class. Pay Back 1st, 2nd, 3rd. (Current negative Coggins required if out of state health certificate. Farrier will be available.) Stop by and see a great show! There is no admission fee for spectators. Food tent will be available with food and drinks for sale.

Full Moon Hike
Full Moon hikes at Cass Scenic Railroad are led hikes designed to encourage visitors to enjoy being outdoors in wintry and spring weather. Meet at the Visitor's Center at Cass, WV at 7:30p.m. There is no charge to participate. Hike guidelines include • Fee free activity, but limited to 30 participants. • Preregistration is required. Use email link below or call. • Registration will be confirmed by hike leader. • Meet At The Visitor Center • Hike is approximately 3 miles total. • Walk begins from the Visitor Center to MM 79 On The Greenbrier River Trail and back. • Trail is crushed gravel and minimal grade change. • Dress for the weather. Boots or closed toes footwear, socks, layered outerwear is recommended. Oh! headwear and gloves could be handy. • Pack a water or snack. • Photography is permitted, but flash photography is not. We'll need to retain our night vision. • NO FLASHLIGHTS OR HEADLAMPS. Shining a bright flashlight will diminish your night vision for up to 30 minutes, limiting your view of the night sky and wildlife. You can bring a flashlight for the 'just in case' but refrain from shining – we'll let the moon and stars do that! • Participants should be believe they can complete three miles. You can do it! The Full Moon Hike group will remain together for the duration of the walk/hike. Safety first. • Children must be with a parent or guardian at all times. • Well behaved dogs are allowed. Dogs will rely on their human to keep them on leash and under control. • Due to limited participation (30), large groups (10 or more people) desiring to participate should contact the leader, email below. • Use Full Moon Hike miles as some of the miles hiking if you are enrolled in the WV State Park Hiking Program.

Green Bank Star Quest
Our 14th annual OPTICAL and RADIO astronomy "Star Party" July 19th - 22th, 2017 held at the Green Bank Observatory, Green Bank WV. We will have a distinguished keynote speakers EVERY evening, with presentations on the latest in optical &; radio astronomy. We will have a featured prominent speaker for the "Keynote Presentation" Saturday evening. Clinics and additional presentations held daily (indoors) on multiple subjects including Astrophotography. Solar and night-time observing at your campsite. Campground has graveled roads, sanitary stations and a HOT shower facility (close by). We Feature: a Large Raffle Drawing (the 2016 event had 84 prizes), Children's Activities, Cafeteria and Snack Bar, and Vendors on site. The 4-day registration fee is just $100. Limited bunkhouse accommodations for additional fee.

11th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr., Day Celebration: “Nonviolence is Courageous”
The Community Coalition for Social Justice will explore the theme of “Non-violence is Courageous” during its Eleventh Annual Martin Luther King, Jr., Day Celebration on Monday, January 16, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at the Metropolitan Theatre, 373 High Street, Morgantown. The program will feature music in the lobby before the event, a welcome by Morgantown Mayor Marti Shamberger; music by the Flying Colors, Morgantown Children’s Choir, the Morgantown Community Orchestra, and the Cheat Lake Elementary School Choir; and a performance by children from the Shack Neighborhood House. Jeremy Thomas will recite sections of Dr. King’s speech “Where Do We Go From Here?,” and Lt. Matt Solomon of the Morgantown Police Department will talk about how “Police Officers are Peace Officers.” Art students from St. Francis Central Catholic School provide posters to publicize the event. The Morgantown Police Department is providing coloring and activity books on “How to Handle Bullying” for the children attending, and Rachel Wood of Virtus Wealth Solutions purchased crayons for them. High school HSTA students will assist at the event. This program is free and open to the public.
