Kanawha Kordsmen Concert
Making their Ripley debut is The Kanawha Kordsmen. The group has been specializing in the barbershop-style music for more than 40 years. The Kordsmen represent the Greater Kanawha Valley Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. More than two dozen voices will join for a free outdoor concert on the lawn of the Jackson County Courthouse Square in Ripley.

Wheeling Symphony presents “East Meets West”

Two time Grammy nominated violinist Jennifer Frautschi joins the WSO performing Beethoven’s “Violin Concerto,” a dramatic lyrical showpiece.

Bramwell’s Spring Tour of Historic Homes

Maple Sugaring Day at Oglebay
EVENT DETAILS Experience the history of maple syrup production at Oglebay Institute’s annual Maple Sugaring Day. Begin by learning techniques Native Americans and early pioneers used to gather and make maple syrup as you are guided from station to station along the trials. Modern methods of sap collection will also be demonstrated. Finish your tour with a hot pancake breakfast in the Camp Russel dining hall. The 40 minute tours depart every half hour beginning at 9 a.m. from Camp Russel in Oglebay. Last tour leaves at 12:30 p.m. Advance registration is encouraged. Meet at the Visitor's Center at Cass, WV at 8:00p.m. There is no charge to participate. Hike guidelines include: • Fee free activity, but limited to 30 participants. • Preregistration is required. Use email link below or call. • Registration will be confirmed by hike leader. • Meet At The Visitor Center • Hike is approximately 3 miles total. • Walk begins from the Visitor Center to MM 79 On The Greenbrier River Trail and back. • Trail is crushed gravel and minimal grade change. • Dress for the weather. Boots or closed toes footwear, socks, layered outerwear is recommended. Oh! headwear and gloves could be handy. • Pack a water or snack. • Photography is permitted, but flash photography is not. We'll need to retain our night vision. • NO FLASHLIGHTS OR HEADLAMPS. Shining a bright flashlight will diminish your night vision for up to 30 minutes, limiting your view of the night sky and wildlife. You can bring a flashlight for the 'just in case' but refrain from shining – we'll let the moon and stars do that! • Participants should be believe they can complete three miles. You can do it! The Full Moon Hike group will remain together for the duration of the walk/hike. Safety first. • Children must be with a parent or guardian at all times. • Well behaved dogs are allowed. The Ugly Duckling
The Davis & Elkins College Division of Fine and Performing Arts will present “The Ugly Duckling,” adapted by senior Jacob Currence, at 7 p.m. Friday, January 20 and Saturday, January 21 and at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 21 and Sunday, January 22 in the Boiler House Theatre on the College campus. Based on the children's classic, this student-written puppet show adaptation explores loyalty and faith, while reminding us all that beauty is only “down deep.” Tickets are $5 general admission and free for children 3 and younger, D&E faculty, staff and students.
