Wheeling Feeling Chili Cookoff

Since 2002, the Wheeling Feeling Chili Cookoff has been a summer staple at Heritage Port in Downtown Wheeling. The event — always held the first Saturday in June — features live music on the riverfront, classic car show, and plenty of food and drinks for the whole family to enjoy. Attendees can buy tasting tickets to sample the dozens of chilis and salsas prepared by the contestants. The Wheeling Feeling Chili Cookoff offers a beautiful venue and easy access from Interstate 70. Cooks can enter the following categories: red chili, chili verde, salsa, and homestyle. The event is an official International Chili Society (ICS) competition. The ICS is a nonprofit organization that sanctions chili cookoffs with judging and cooking rules/regulations. The events are worldwide and benefit charities and nonprofit organizations. All winners of ICS-sanctioned cookoffs qualify to compete for cash prizes and awards at the World’s Championship Chili Cookoff held each year in October. The ICS is the largest food contest/festival organization in the world.
