29th Annual Chocolate Extravaganza

Do you like Chocolate? Do you like freshly baked, cooked, grilled, and melted chocolate? If so, then you will LOVE the 29th annual Chocolate Extravaganza held at Temple Shalom in Wheeling, WV. This event has a long history of being sweet, savory and downright delicious! For 29 years, Temple Shalom has hosted a myriad of different local and national Chocolatiers who come and make some of the most unique and yummy chocolate treats you can imagine! Upon entry you will make your way through each station where you will be given a sample from every unique vendor. Some of our returning chocolatiers include: Valley Cheese of Wheeling, WV, Sarris Candy of Canonsburg, PA, Ye Olde Alpha of Wheeling, WV, Mmm Popcorn of Wheeling and The Cheese Melt of Wheeling, WV–just to name a few. We also have a few vendors making their Extravaganza debut and they are Brew Keepers of Wheeling, WV, and Dairy Queen of Wheeling, WV.

Please join us on Saturday, September 9, 2017, for the second annual Happy Retreat Craft Beer and Music Festival, held on the historic grounds of Happy Retreat, former home of Charles Town founder Charles Washington, brother of George Washington and certified National Treasure by the National Trust of Historic Preservation. The event will feature music all day from touring bands as well as samples from multiple brewers of the best craft beer available in the State of West Virginia. Inaugural BB&T Malden Salt Fest

The Inaugural BB&T Malden Salt Fest will be held October 6th to 8th in Malden at J.Q. Dickinson Salt-Works. There will be music, food, tours, a parade, dancing, crafts, demonstrations, and more! October 6th: Dinner at J.Q. Dickinson Salt-Works for descendants of salt-works owners, workers, and slaves. Tickets will go on sale in September October 7th: The day kicks off at 10:00 a.m. with an old fashioned parade in downtown Malden which will end at J.Q. Dickinson Salt-Works. The day will be full of assorted cultural activities such as lectures, films, music and dancing. There will be re-enacting of the salt making of the original settlers, oral history taking and tours. A variety of local foods, craft beer, cider and treats will be available for purchase. Live music into the evening. Free admission. October 8th: A service will be held at the African Zion Church in downtown Malden with gospel singing. The Spring Hill Cemetery will be open for tours of the grounds where the salt maker's and their descendants are buried. Wheeling Arts & Culture Fest

Welcome to the 2017 Wheeling Arts & Culture Fest. The Arts Fest and the Upper Ohio Valley Multi-Cultural Festival have combined efforts to bring comprehensive arts & culture programming to the festival! The festival will be on Friday, June 16 and Saturday, June 17 from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. at Wheeling Heritage Port. The Ohio County Library will continue to host additional literary and historical programming for the festival. The festival will include all of the great events from both festivals so if you are looking for the Artist Market or the Around the World Carnival, you will find it all. The admission-free event is open to everyone in the community and offers a variety of arts and cultural programs, including live music, visual arts, theatre, dance, literature, culinary demonstrations, historical arts, and much more.

West Virginia Bites and Brews

Enjoy craft beer, delicious food, and great music at West Virginia Bites and Brews. Spark! Imagination and Science Center is hosting the 2nd Annual West Virginia Bites & Brews on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the WV National Guard Readiness Center at 90 Army Way in Morgantown. West Virginia Bites & Brews offers attendees samples of “bites” from local food trucks and mobile vendors as well tastes of several microbrews. There will be huge raffle baskets and amazing music from local band, Main Street Hustle. Cost is $40 per person for “bites and brews” and $30 for “bites only”. West Virginia Open Fiddle, Old-Time Banjo and Bluegrass Banjo Contest

The Augusta Heritage Center of Davis & Elkins College welcomes musicians and spectators from across the region to the College’s Outdoor Amphitheatre for the West Virginia Open Fiddle, Old-Time Banjo and Bluegrass Banjo Contest on Saturday, October 1, 2016. Registration for the contest begins at noon. The contest will start at 2 p.m. and run until all contestants have competed. There is no registration fee to compete. participants from any state or region are welcome to enter. Five cash prizes will be awarded in Fiddle, Old-time Banjo and Bluegrass Banjo categories, as well as a Best Senior Musician prize for those age 60 and older, and a Best Youth Musician prize for those age 15 and younger. Awards are $400 for first place, $200 for second place, $100 for third place, $50 for fourth place and $25 for fifth place. The event is sponsored by Smakula Fretted Instruments, Valley Supply and McNeer, Highland, McMunn & Varner LC, Elkins-Randolph County YMCA and several anonymous donors. The contest is part of the Mountain State Forest Festival Celebrating Appalachia – Banjos, Burgers and Beer Festival. Rails & Ales Craft Beer Festival

The annual event will feature live music, food from local restaurants, artisan vendors, and specialty craft beer from West Virginia breweries and craft breweries across the US and from around the world. We’ll be updating our beer list as we get commitments from breweries. Check back often for the most up-to-date information! The festival will be held rain or shine and there will be no refunds. All attendees must have a ticket and must be 21 years or older. Small children can attend if they are carried by their parents at all times – no strollers will be allowed.
