Succulent Container Workshop

Create a one-of-a-kind succulent dish garden at Modern Homestead using a wide selection of plant materials. The workshop provides expert instruction and special potting soil mix. Containers and accents are available for purchase.

Kids Container Gardening: Growing Organic

Join us for an exciting program featuring local author and Avian Conservation Center of Appalachia’s Director Katie Fallon reading her new children’s book "Look, See the Farm"!, followed by a container gardening workshop with WVBG Educator Stacy Clovis-Woofter. Katie and Stacy will teach kids about the different types of organisms and wildlife that thrive in organic gardens and farms, and children may discover these lessons firsthand in their take-home organic container gardens. Workshop most appropriate for children ages 3 and older. $25/container garden for WVBG members; $35 for non-members. Katie’s book will also be available for purchase. All activities take place at the West Virginia Botanic Garden, 1061 Tyrone Road, Morgantown, WV 26508 unless otherwise noted. Park in the lower parking area. Programs will last approximately 1.5-2 hours unless otherwise noted. Donations are appreciated and can be made online, or at the kiosk by the lower lot. Please refrain from bringing your pet to activities.

Planting Containers

Join Executive Director Bill Mills as he plants the many varied containers of the Welcome Center. Hanging baskets, haymows and pots both large and small will be featured. The basics of container gardening will be emphasized, from plant varieties to soil and fertilizer. Most appropriate for adults. Please pre-register for ALL activities 48 hours in advance at www.wvbg.org. $20 for WVBG members, $30 for non-members. Space is limited, register today!
