The classic American comedy/drama that’s every bit as touching, warm, and witty today as when it debuted on Broadway in 1979. Retired couple Ethel and Norman Thayer spend every summer at their home on Golden Pond. This year, their adult daughter visits, bringing along her 12-year-old son. The turbulent relationship between father and daughter, the generation gap between young and old, and the difficulties facing a couple in the twilight years of a long marriage, all combine in a play that gives us unique insight into the modern American family. The Linsly Extravaganza

The longest running variety show of its kind in the Ohio Valley, the Linsly Extravaganza has become an annual tradition for generations of Linsly alumni, many of whom have children or grandchildren who will perform in their footsteps on the stage Friday night. Showcasing the talent of the Linsly student body, the Extravaganza will include an eclectic range of acts including singing, dancing, instrumental performances, comedy and a few surprises along the way.

Charleston Light Opera Guild presents “Anything Goes”

The S. S. American is sailing between New York and England with a comically colorful assemblage of passengers: Reno Sweeney, a popular nightclub singer and former evangelist, her pal Billy Crocker, a lovelorn Wall Street broker who has come aboard to try to win the favor of his beloved Hope Harcourt, who is engaged to another passenger, Sir Evelyn Oakleigh, and a second-rate conman named Moonface Martin, aka "Public Enemy #13." Song, dance and farcical antics ensue as Reno and Moonface try to help Billy with the love of his life. Interactive Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre – “Murder in the Choir Loft”

Join the Friends of Music for a murder mystery dinner theater performance at Shepherdstown's Bavarian Inn the evening of Friday, May 19. It will combine a plated three-course dinner and an original, lighthearted murder mystery performed by Murder Mysteries Will Travel, a professional acting troupe from Winchester, VA. The mystery will be entitled "Murder in the Choir Loft." Like all the troupe's productions, it will be a comedy that spoofs the murder mystery genre, and it will be interactive; diners will work to solve the crime, and they may play roles in the drama if they wish. The evening will begin with hors d'oeuvres, wine and a cash bar at 6:30 p.m. Dinner and the performance will follow at 7:15 p.m. Tickets will be $100 per person, with $45 of that amount tax-deductible. All proceeds will benefit the Friends organization and its Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra. Seating will be limited to 55 couples or 110 people. Attire will be evening casual or your best detective outfit. Tickets are available through the Friends website at www.friendswv.org. The Friends of Music is a non-profit organization founded in 1999 to support and promote musical excellence in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia and the surrounding region. The Friends' Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra is the only professional chamber orchestra in the Eastern Panhandle and one of only three professional classical music orchestras in the state. It was established by the Friends of Music in 2007 and has been sustained by the Friends since its inception.

Wednesday, February 1st, will be a special Whiskey Wednesday for us as we will have the legendary folk musician, Bill Staines, play here starting at 7:30pm. Come out and see this wonderful folk artist 40 years in the making. Singing mostly his own songs, Staines has become one of the most popular and durable singers on the folk music scene today, performing nearly 200 concerts a year and driving over 65,000 miles annually. He weaves a blend of gentle wit and humor into his performances and one reviewer wrote, "He has a sense of timing to match the best standup comics".
