Honey Festival-Beckley
Learn how to raise bees, taste and purchase local honey, see live honey bee demonstrations, visit informational display tents, and participate in great activities for the entire family! Special children’s activities will take place at the Youth Museum such as bee dissections and bee crafts. Food vendors will also be in place to satisfy your appetite. The Long Point String Band will be preforming during the day from 12pm - 4pm. Exhibition Coal Mine tours will be available all day as well for the special admission rate of $10 per person. Color Me Au-Some 5K Walk/Run
Color Me Au-Some 5K Walk/Run is an event with a fun and colorful twist where participants are plastered with color bombs of dry tempera paint powder at stations throughout the course. Participants are encouraged to wear white t-shirts to engage in the “Color Me Process.” The Color Me Au-Some 5K course incorporates one of the city’s oldest and most recognizable landmarks, the Wheeling Suspension Bridge. The course starts at the picturesque waterfront, goes through downtown, over the Suspension Bridge, around Wheeling Island, back over the Suspension Bridge, and down Main Street returning to the Waterfront. Following the race, participants can enjoy refreshments, door prizes, awards ceremony, and music. Awards will be given to the top 5 female and male walkers and runners and the top three female and male finishers in the following age categories: 9 & under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, top finisher in 70+. Children ages 3 & under will pay no registration fee, but parents must register them and sign the waiver. All participants that register as walkers MUST walk. If you register as a runner, you are permitted to run and walk.

Christmas in Shepherdstown
The historic town of Shepherdstown WV will kick off its annual "Christmas in Shepherdstown" celebration on Friday, November 24, the day after Thanksgiving. The November 24 schedule will include a series of evening events that are traditional for the town: a bonfire, the lighting of the town tree, the arrival of Santa, and children's visits with Santa. Other highlights of that weekend will be live Nativity performances, a "Children's Extravaganza" at the Community Club, and a Christmas concert at O'Hurley's store. After that, there will be many different events every weekend and some weekdays until Christmas. Most events will be free. Every weekend will include children's activities; holiday marketplaces selling handmade crafts, baked goods, and greens; carriage rides; and special musical performances. Many shops will be open late on Fridays and Saturdays. The town will hold its annual Christmas parade at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 2. That evening, Shepherd University's Masterworks Chorale will present a concert featuring the Fauré Requiem. Also that weekend, the George Tyler Moore Center for the Study of the Civil War and the Shepherd University History Department will present a "Civil War Christmas in Shepherdstown," which will include many activities such as lectures and panel discussions, military re-enactments, children's activities, period music and street entertainment. Highlights of the remaining weekends before Christmas will include Shepherd University's annual Holiday Gala concert December 9 and 10, performances of " "The Nutcracker" at the Frank Center December 16 and 17, and a TUBACHRISTMAS concert December 16. There will be free parking in all the town's metered spaces on Friday, November 24 and every weekday from the 18th of December through January 6. There is always free parking at Shepherdstown's metered spaces on weekends. Free weekend parking is also available in the Shepherd University parking lot at High and Princess streets, one block from downtown. Events and activities will continue to be added. Lebanese Fest – Mahrajan – Wheeling, WV
Hours on Saturday are 4 p.m. - 10 p.m. and Sunday noon to 7 p.m. Mahrajan means 'festival." Whether you're looking for a weekend get-away or a day of delicious food and unique entertainment, gather your friends and family and join us in beautiful Oglebay Park for our annual Mahrajan. 5th Annual Shepherdstown “DogFest”
Shepherdstown WV will hold its fifth annual "DogFest" the weekend of April 29-30. Originally held during August, the event has been shifted to the spring the past two years to get away from the summer heat. This year's DogFest will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. both days. It will include a wide variety of activities for dogs, their owners, dog lovers, and the general public. Most of the activities will be located on King Street, downtown. All the activities will be free and everyone will be welcome. One of the main events will be a Saturday parade of rescue dogs that will showcase adoptable dogs from different breed-specific rescue organizations and local all-breed shelters. As each dog goes on parade, a representative of the sponsoring organization will provide commentary on the animal. DogFest coordinator Marianne Davis says this parade format offers a good opportunity to educate the public about the needs of different breeds and adoption and fostering options. Other highlights of the weekend will include a community dog show on Sunday afternoon open to all dogs owned by both visitors and residents. Both days will include blessings of the dogs; exhibits and demonstrations by trainers, rescue organizations, and others; and children's activities. Throughout the weekend, many restaurants and stores will let dog owners bring their dogs inside. Many will also be offering special dog-themed food, drinks, and items for sale. The West Virginia Three Rivers Festival officially opens on Thursday, May 25th with the start of the Grand Feature Parade followed by the Opening Ceremonies at Palatine Park in Downtown Fairmont. New Deal Festival
The New Deal Festival is held annually on the second Saturday in July to celebrate the unique history of the nation’s first New Deal Subsistence Homestead Community of Arthurdale. The event is sponsored by Arthurdale Heritage, Inc., the non-profit organization that formed to “restore yesterday for tomorrow” with the mission of preserving the history of Arthurdale for generations to come. This quaint 1930s-40s style festival features artisan demonstrations, craft market, children’s activities, new exhibits in the New Deal Homestead Museum, tours of the Arthurdale Historic District, a visit from Eleanor Roosevelt, and much more. Arthurdale was founded in 1933 as the nation’s first New Deal Subsistence Homestead Community by President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s administration. The community provided jobs, education, and modern housing for impoverished, unemployed miners living in destitute coal camps in West Virginia. It also served as a laboratory for new educational, industrial, and farming techniques.

Durbin Days
This event is 3 evenings, 1 full day, and a Sunday afternoon of fun, entertainment, and learning for all ages. Various events pit contestants to be the best at horseshoes, tug-of-war, greased pig chase, pet showing, karaoke, hay bale throwing, archery shooting, and running or walking the 5K. There is music, bingo, food, and a carnival every day but Sunday. For Sunday we're planning a community covered dish noon meal and gospel music which is an addition to our festival. Saturday is a day filled with children’s activities, car show/and fireworks interspersed with other events listed above. We also include the Fireman's Parade on Friday and will be holding "Incarcerate a Friend" at the newly renovated town jail on Saturday.

The Augusta Festival celebrates Appalachian heritage arts and folk life with a juried craft fair, live music, dancing, workshops, craft demonstrations and children’s activities. This year’s juried Craft Fair includes more than 50 of the region’s finest artisans selling their unique creations. Concessions will be available.
Egyptian Paste Bead Making Class-Ages 4-104
There are 12 spots in this class. This is a 2 day class. Discover the world of self glazing clay. This type of clay has been used from the time of the ancient Egyptians. It is perfect for small items and beads. Class will cover making clay, forming and firing. You can make jewelry or small sculptures. At the end of the day your beads will be fired in the kiln so that the following day they are ready to use. Once the beads have been fired, all the sharp edges may need to be removed so you will spend some time sanding and finishing. Then all the finished beads can be made into items of jewelry using various methods.

Shepherdstown Garden Fest Weekend
The historic town of Shepherdstown, WV, will hold a "GardenFest Weekend" May 21 and 22. The centerpiece of of both days will be the town's 17th annual Back Alley Garden Tour and Tea, which will include a self-guided walking tour of private gardens rarely open to the public and an elegant afternoon tea. Incorporated in 1762, Shepherdstown has many interesting 18th- and early 19th-century homes. Many of the gardens on the Garden Tour will be located on the grounds of those homes. The town will be hosting other garden-related activities both days, including a Native Plant Sale on Saturday and a Farmers' Market on Sunday. Both days will also include displays by local artists, access to local historic sites, live music, children's events, carriage rides, and special spring menus at many local restaurants. The Tour and Tea and all the other weekend activities will be held rain or shine. Garden Tour hours will be 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday and 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. The Teas will be offered from 12 noon to 4:00 p.m. each day. Admission to both the Tour and Tea will be $20 per person through May 18, and $25 after that. The Native Plant Sale will be held Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sponsored by the Potomac Valley Audubon Society, it will emphasize plants that benefit endangered pollinators like honeybees and butterflies, and it will include informational displays as well as vendors. Participating native plant vendors will include Hill House Farm and Nursery, from Castletown, VA; Enchanter's Garden, from Hinton, WV; Bluebell Ridge Nursery, from Sharpsburg, MD; and Star Eagle Gardens, from Berkeley Springs. There will also be garden art for sale and a local apiary will be selling honey and offering tastings of different honeys. Master Gardeners, Master Naturalists, bee keepers and other experts will be on hand to answer questions about pollinators and the selection and cultivation of plants that help sustain them. The Monarch Alliance of Washington County, MD, will have literature available, including sample plans for butterfly gardens. All of the weekend's other activities will be free and will follow the same hours as the Garden Tour. Princeton's favorite fall event brings thousands to Mercer Street for AutumnFest. Here you will find children's activities , vendors, crafts, food, a car show, pumpkin painting, pie contests and more. To make sure you don't leave empty handed, various groups will make homemade apple butter on the street.
Mercer County Heritage Festival
Step into the past and relive the days of Appalachian History. The Heritage Festival features Civil War storytellers, farm animals, re-enactors such as Gen. Robert E. Lee and wife, Abraham Lincoln and wife, Booker T. Washington, Mark Twain, Ostenaco (Cherokee Warrior), craftsmen, vendors, food, Native American presenters , African American presenters, blacksmithing, spinning wheel, weaving, crafts, barn dance, railroad and coal mining displays, Appalachian music, flatfooting, Ladie's tea, and much more! Friday is educational day for schools. Veteran's commemoration on Saturday and Sunday with door prizes for veterans. Civil War Era church service on Sunday morning. Small admission fee.
