Cheat River Festival

First weekend in May, every year – Cheat Fest 2017 is May 5th and 6th, 2017. Gates open Friday night from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. The festival grounds in Albright, West Virginia will once again transform into a haven for boaters, music lovers, and families. Bands from all over Appalachia will entertain crowds with live music. Held rain or shine, Cheat Fest is always a good time! There will be activities for the whole family including kids' tents and parade, delicious food, art market, 5K, downriver race, vendors, live entertainment, workshops, silent auction and raffles. Kids under twelve are free! Kids of all ages can congregate at the ever-growing Kid’s Tent from noon ’till 5:00 p.m. on Saturday for a host of hands-on activities.

West Virginia Chestnut Festival

Enjoy an Appalachian Chestnut Festival in Rowlesburg, WV, “the little town on the scenic Cheat River!” Honoring the heritage of our Great American Chestnut Tree & the research scientists dedicated to restoring them back to their natural forest habitat. Start your day with a Continental Breakfast – 10:30 to noon – In the River City Café. Meet friends and Distinguished Guests, including Lisa Thomson, President and CEO, The American Chestnut Foundation. Szilagyi Creative Arts Center (10:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) West Virginia Chapter Meeting, Chestnut Scientific Program, and Permanent Exhibits! Friends of Cheat Presents Pups, Pints &Pickin’s

Bring the WHOLE family, including the furry ones, for some sun & fun - FOC style - at Pups, Pints, and Pickin! Save the date for a special end of summer event, hosted by Friends of the Cheat in partnership with the Preston County Animal Shelter, featuring live music, food, speciality vendors, kids activities, dog-centric demonstrations, workshops and contests! Silent auction & raffles – Prizes include outdoor gear, pet supplies and services, local arts and crafts, and gift certificates.
